Last night, we went for the beach-club look
The Prime Minister and his wife hosted a party at Villa Francia in Hal Lija last night, at which the guests were directors (unnamed on the invitation cards) of companies which had participated in various fairs and exhibitions.
Mrs Muscat, as this photograph shows, decided to go for the haute beach-club look, with one of those elasticated strapless tops meant to be pulled on when you go to the beach restaurant for lunch, and the marks left by her swim-suit straps glowing nicely.
You’d think that Xaxa tal-Mejkup, or whoever in Mrs Muscat’s entourage does the job of putting on her face with a palette-knife these days, would have had the good sense to move a little further down her chest with the foundation tube.
The fabrics: in general I think that pseudo mix ‘n’ match look works better for sofa cushions. It’s only pretending to be mix and match. The reality is that it is play-safe coordinated and so comes across as hopelessly unimaginative. What her wardrobe mistress has done there is match the colours perfectly so that no thinking had to be done about the pattern. The result is dull as ditchwater – like the aforementioned cushions in a hotel lobby.
