Prison warder goes public about his desire to have refugees burn inside torched shelter
Vincent Debono is a prison warder. Before that, he was a policeman. His response to the news that another refugee shelter has been torched in Sweden is to say that he hopes the refugees are burning inside it.
Disciplinary action should be taken against him immediately. In the interest of prisoner safety, he should be transferred to another post within the public service. With a mentality like that, you can see why he would want to be a prison warder, and certain prisoners – who are vulnerable enough as it is – are at risk.
But is that going to happen? Clearly not, because the acting director of prisons is still the highly corrupt former acting Police Commissioner Ray ‘My Two Sons Are Corrupt Policemen Too’ Zammit.
Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela, who is responsible for the prison, should act at once.
