This is the obvious consequence of Muscat and Mallia having wrecked the army

Giving him his full support and cooperation, Joseph Muscat allowed his Minister of the Interior, Manuel Mallia, to wreck the army by removing its properly trained and experienced officers, including its commanding officer and deputy commander, and by laying waste to morale.

Two junior officers, Jeffrey Curmi and Mark Mallia – the former is a personal friend of the prime minister and his family – were then promoted three or four times in as many weeks to become commander and deputy commander. Just add water, microwave for one minute, and you have an instant brigadier.

Did you think it didn’t matter, that anybody can do the job of Commander, Armed Forces of Malta, just like anybody can do the job of Head of the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting?
