Update: It seems DC Gossip is a bad loser too. Today she stated that the AG’s office must be in cahoots with the PL Deputy Leader if the AG backed the PL stance? Now that’s democratic.
Michael Fazon clearly didn’t agree with her and branded the event on Friday as the most interesting of the day! The Times appeared to agree with DC Gossip though. They relegated this landmark judgement to page 3 and on page 1 told us how the divorce debate was conducted with dignity, how the deficit may be going down, with a back page talking point attacking Joseph Muscat for commenting on Dr. Gonzi’s other vote buying scandal..promising tax cuts which didn’t materialise.
In other words The Times acted as the wall again and didn’t give the AGs decision front page prominence as it would have done if the PL were in government perhaps? This bias should stop.
Earlier: It appears the A.G. has today struck a blow at the credibility of The Malta Independent’s leading columnist. Only yesterday she attempted to rubbish the credibility of those who made cogent arguments about vote buying in the last election. The A.G.’s arguments published today mirror the arguments made by the PL’s Deputy Leader in Parliament.
Dc Gossip wrong again. Whose credibility is in tatters? Perhaps the Independent should check the views of their columnist for fact, and dare we say independence too? Or read our own most read leader called “No Pradas in our polling booths PM” before they rushed to print her biased hot air.
Bottom line the A.G. is appealing the judgement given in the vote buying case. Watch this space…

My understanding – and thankfully I have scant experience of the Courts – is that an appeal can only be lodged n a point of law. Do you have any idea what the basis of the appeal is?
The AG has a right to appeal on any or all cases so why they are viewing this as a landmark judgement is beyond me – il-vera you can fool most of the people most of the time methinks!

This is not surprising given that there are a good seventeen letters in just two words.

Fontana, according to a report, headlined on page three a couple of days ago as I recall, in The Times, AG appeal is based on a key ‘wetness’ not having been heard by the court.
Labour governments have been bad news for the nation since the early fifties when Mintoff first stuck his finger in, with his incompetent act followed up by KMB and Alfred Sant.
‘Wetness’ the drop in employment in the private sector that invariably followed successive Labour governments. What Mr Bartolo is said to have told his employee was not a threat, but a plain statement of proven fact.
The problem with PL as a whole, and with Anglu Farrugia in particular, is that unless they come to realise that they, in themselves, are nothing but bad news and that they would do everyone including themselves a favour by copping out, the Labour Party cannot ever redeem itself. It is destined to remain as a bad and inept opposition, and a disaster for the entire nation should it end up in government. In other words a permanent plague on society from whichever angle one looks at it.
Yeah and when I first read that article, I was like who the hell is DC.

As far as I know the AG will routinely appeal a judgment as long as he is expressly directed not to by those politically responsible. Obviously the government would not interfere in this case….

Alfred Bartolo: Government, even if it chose to, cannot interfere in the functions of the AG. The AG is independent, as is the judiciary. AG acts solely on the merits of each individual case. Judgements are not ‘routinely’ appealed by AG. Appeals are only raised where valid grounds exist.

Now it so happens that I wrote that Talking Point but Malta Star editor is incapable of understanding the difference between attacking someone for commenting and attacking the comment. Too subtle for him.

We have to remember that tragically, the vote of a person who can spell has exactly the same value of the vote of a person who cannot spell correctly.

Well, tough shite dear J.M. & Co., DCG is here to stay ( not that I agree with her comments all the time) However……what DCG represents is, DEMOCRACY (wish I can underline it too!). The afore mentioned word, for the new l.p. or m.l.p. or whatever this so called new image political party represents has no meaning….cause it’s a taboo word for them.
