These are Konrad Mizzi’s assets
Konrad Mizzi, when rumbled and forced to own up to a trust in New Zealand, then later forced to admit to ownership of a company in Panama, tried to wriggle out of it by saying that the whole devious and top-secret structure is meant to hold his assets (“but neither holds any assets”).
And not one person has asked: what assets?
All his legal assets are listed in his most recent obligatory declaration to parliament (June last year), for the year 2014: a flat in Sliema (it’s small and poky), a dwelling with garage in London (which he no longer owns because it was sold in March last year), 4,000 shares in Malta International Airport, and €310,279 in bank deposits (completely cancelled out by €329,816 in bank loans).
His total annual income is declared as his minister’s salary: €76,000 a year.
And these are the assets which he would have us believe justify a complicated and secretive holding structure composed of a trust in New Zealand and a company in Panama.
He thinks we are all Labour Party delegates.
This is his asset-declaration to parliament for the year 2014.
