GUEST POST/Joseph Muscat must be as corrupt as Konrad Mizzi

It is patently obvious to anyone with a brain that one does not open a trust in one remote part of the world to own a shell company in a blacklisted country in another remote part of the world, without having significant monies acquired by illicit means.
Still, Joseph Muscat defends Mizzi, changes the party statute for him and encourages others to elect him as their deputy leader.
Why? Why aren’t alarm bells ringing in Muscat’s head as they are in ours?
Why isn’t Muscat afraid that Mizzi is lying to him when he says that all is well? Why is Muscat taking the risk of having a senior minister tarnish the reputation of his government,, his party and of his country, even if these may all be unfounded suspicions?
Joseph Muscat must know much, much more than he is letting on about Mizzi’s affairs. By the way that he is protecting him it could even mean that he is afraid that if Konrad Mizzi is exposed, his position as Prime Minister becomes untenable.
It could even mean that he has a direct personal interest in the matter.
Doesn’t Joseph Muscat know that the entire world is looking at us at the moment watching our every step? They will keep this in mind the next time they need to do business with us. They will know that senior politicians are dabbling in shady business. They will conclude that Malta is a corrupt state, possibly no better than Panama, and they will keep away.
But of course, Muscat and Mizzi are not interested in those who are not corrupt. They are interested in those who are. And the corrupt will be magnetised by the confirmation that a senior minister in Muscat’s government has a secret company in Panama, which has now been exposed.
To know all this and keep protecting Konrad Mizzi, Joseph Muscat is as corrupt as his deputy leader.
