The traffic near Pavi supermarket in Hal Qormi is jammed solid this morning and reduced to a single lane because of the ongoing marathon. People have been stuck there for ages, many of them unable to get to the airport.
Just now, the Prime Minister has forced his way through in a storm of sirens, security vehicles fore and aft, with two cars even colliding into each other in the panic at the approaching noise.
One driver rang me from his car: “He should be ashamed of himself throwing his weight around like this when all the country is talking about the scandal in which he and his two henchmen are embroiled. He doesn’t even have the decency to be discreet on a day like today.”
