Labour Party’s official news portal uses Google Translate for Maltese to English
The Labour Party’s news portal, Maltastar, which is legendary for its appalling standards (it was the creation of Joseph Muscat and Glenn Bedingfield, those two immensely capable men) has uploaded a crazy story about Mario Demarco.
It confirms my long-held suspicion that the people who work there have such an abysmal level of education that they use Google Translate to flip their Maltese into English, rather than writing stories in English in the first place. Somebody then probably goes over them and removes the worst of it, but in this case, that somebody forgot to delete the sentence he or she rewrote.
Make good the Deputy Head speak with his head, though it has not done so, because it will have a lot to answer.
It would seem that the Deputy Head of the Nationalist Party has some explaining to do.
The first sentence is clearly the best Google Translate could do with “Jaghmel tajjeb id-deputat kap li jitkellem mal-kap, ghalkemm ma ghamilhiex, ghax ghandu hafna ghalxiex jirrispondi.”
But aside from that, what exactly is the Labour Party driving at here – that Mario Demarco must have taken backhanders from the Prime Minister’s chief of staff too? Their logic is off the wall.
