An inevitably, Jason Micallef enters the arena

He’s right, of course, but for all the wrong reasons, and also his motives are suspect. The problem with Anton Attard and PBS is not that they fail on their “mission to win the Eurovision song contest”, but that they have that mission in the first place.

Jason Micallef also comes across as motivated by the desire to be appointed in Anton Attard’s stead, which would be moving from the frying pan into the fire, and he also lays himself open to accusations that while he is busy criticising the failures of PBS’s Eurovision team, he doesn’t come across as having done much about the job he has been asked to do, which is get things going for Valletta 2018, European Capital of Culture.
