Michael Cassar, who resigned from the post of Commissioner of Police a few weeks ago, citing health reasons – the real reason is that he had been faced with mounting public pressure to investigate Konrad Mizzi, Keith Schembri and their associates in their Panama/offshore operations, and didn’t want to have to deal with it – returned to the state payroll two days ago as a consultant to the Malta Security Service, which is Malta’s secret service.
Cassar headed the Malta Security Service before being appointed Commissioner of Police. Under his new contract, he will work 20 hours a week.
