Watch from 3pm: Live-link to European Parliament session with Leo Brincat and two others

MEPs will today interview three candidates for the European Court of Auditors: Portugal’s Joao Figueiredo, Cyprus’s Lazaros Lazarou, and Malta’s Leo Brincat.

The European Court of Auditors’ mission is “to contribute to improving EU financial management”, and to “promote accountability and transparency”.

Sources in Brussels say that Brincat will face tough questions about his support for Konrad Mizzi, his colleague in the cabinet, who is embroiled in the Panama Papers scandal along with the Prime Minister’s chief of staff. “When asked if MMizzi should resign, Brincat wouldn’t comment,” the news portal Politico says.
