Maltese man suspected of hiding 6% of the world’s aluminium in the Mexican desert

No, this is NOT a spoof. Maltese citizen Liu Zhongtian, who owns China Zhongwang Holdings, an enormous industrial aluminium operation, is suspected of hiding 6% of the world’s aluminium in the Mexican desert.
Zhongtian, who is one of the richest men in the world, bought Maltese citizenship for €650,000 last year. He lives in a small starter-home flat in a side-street in Naxxar – or so the government of Malta claims in his formal registration documents.
