Labour luminaries hark back to Old Testament vengeance, pledging “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”
Furious that the three Nationalist MEPs – Roberta Metsola, David Casa and Therese Comodini Cachia – voted against Leo Brincat in the European Parliament, when he himself sneaked in to the committee hearing as a substitute as voted in favour of his former minister, Alfred Sant has now sworn Old Testament vengeance.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, he has said this morning, echoing what Alfred Grixti said a couple of days ago. Grixti, a former senior official of the Labour Party, is now the politically-appointed boss of the government’s Foundation for Social Welfare Services.
The battle-cry of għajn għal għajn u sinna għal sinna is one which the Malta Labour Party has used for the last few decades, giving it a brief rest during the few years Joseph Muscat built bridges for his election to power. But recent duress has forced it out into the open again.
