The ‘American University of Malta’ has got its university licence – when it doesn’t even have a campus or staff yet – and this licence is for five years so far. So if it takes in students every year for a three-year programme, they’re going to have a problem.
But the more interesting thing is that the man the Jordanian outfit has chosen to be rector of this questionable ‘university’ is John Ryder, who is the only American aspect of the project.
Ryder used to be rector of Khazar University in Baku, Azerbaijan, and his current position is that of prrovost at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
