He can always develop psycho-social problems that prevent him from flying
So Konrad Mizzi is going to be among the first to be called before the European Parliament’s Panama Papers Committee. The word they use is “invited”, because technically, he can refuse to go. That would be a very bad idea, though.
I suppose Mizzi can always take a leaf out of his corrupt associate John Dalli’s book, and suddenly develop psycho-social problems that prevent him from flying to, rather than from as in Dalli’s case, Brussels. Dalli knows a jolly good doctor, working in a health spa run by some of his ‘Christian charity’ friends, in an obscure part of Germany, who can sign the sick-notes for Mizzi just as he did for him.
The method worked for Dalli; it helped him stay away from Malta just long enough for his buddy Joseph Muscat to become prime minister and have removed the Police Commissioner who insisted on interrogating him. But I somehow don’t think that excuse will wash with the European Parliament’s committee.
