The Maltese Patriots – a bunch no better than, to paraphrase a hick in a West Virginia village, apes in polyester and nylon – are set to try their luck in the upcoming general election.

This is what you get by pandering to them and treating their views as equivalent to those of rational and decent people, instead of just fighting them hard and into oblivion.

What is mainly responsible for the rise of the far right and of popular demagogues who manipulate the irrational and the weak-minded? No, it isn’t immigrants or immigration. It isn’t elites or the establishment or the liberal ‘bleeding hearts’.

It’s one thing above all: the growth of the idea/belief that all views are equal to each other. This in itself stems from ignorance: the misinterpretation of the fundamental human right to hold and express an opinion. We are all equal in our right to hold and expression an opinion, but it does not follow from this that all opinions are equal.
