This photograph shows that couple of lushes – the Labour Party deputy leader/Minister for the Economy, Chris Cardona (I can’t bear to comment about his outfit) and his chief of staff, Mario Azzopardi – seeing the New Year in together at Level 22 nightclub in the Portomaso tower, at a party called (cringe, cringe) ‘Dom Perignon High Society’. If they didn’t get their tickets for free, they paid €120 each for them. Or we did, like we pay when they raid their hotel-room minibars.

It was organised by the former gaming company employee and party photographer Martin Pettersson, and sponsored by Belvedere vodka, Dom Perignon champagne and iGaming Elite.

No need to raid the minibar this time.
