“Il-palazz ta’ Beppe”, Janice and the drone: Labour Party editor to pay damages of €3,000

Eleven months ago, the Labour Party and its very scary media decided it would help distract us from the subject of the newly discovered Panama companies owned by the Prime Minister’s chief of staff and Konrad Mizzi if they soaked the country in stories about the house in which one of the Opposition party’s deputy leaders lives.

They wheeled out the Justice Minister’s girlfriend, a party propagandist called Janice Bartolo, and gave her a drone to play with. From there on in, it was wall to wall “il-palazz ta’ Beppe” (bogans always use your first name, especially in highly inappropriate contexts). The Justice Minister’s girlfriend even measured the tiles around the swimming-pool, and said to us that “Beppe” has more than he is allowed to.

When Beppe Fenech Adami sued them, editor Aleander Balzan made ‘let him do his worst’ statements on Facebook, claiming to have so much evidence that he would blow Fenech Adami out of the water. Instead, he never turned up to court at all, no evidence was presented, he himself failed to give evidence, and the Labour Party just let it go because they had no defence.

That’s exactly why the case was wrapped up so quickly. And this morning, the Labour Party’s Aleander Balzan was ordered to pay “Beppe” €3,000 in damages. Read the judgement here: Court judgement – Beppe Fenech Adami vs Aleander Balzan, 13 February 2017
