David Thake and Norman Vella: the Labour Party gets its way

The Labour Party has got its way in the matter of David Thake’s show on Radio 101 and Norman Vella’s show on Net TV. The Nationalist Party had scrapped its strategy of not allowing candidates to host radio and television shows, which brought Thake and Vella back on air, much to the Labour Party’s displeasure.

Thake, on radio in people’s cars as they are driving home after work, has an especially large audience who tune in for his effective and entertaining communication style – and that audience is made up of all kinds of people including very many who don’t vote Nationalist. Recently he has had a spate of callers explaining how they have voted Labour all their lives but are now truly disgusted by the corruption and cronyism.

That can’t have gone down too well with the gang of criminals who have hijacked the Labour Party and the country. They had to come up with another tack, and in typical fashion, they use any means to silence their critics, including the abuse of systems which are meant to safeguard democracy not do the opposite.

Sources have told this website that the Labour Party/government has been leaning for weeks on the Broadcasting Authority to rule for a blanket ban on political party candidates hosting their own shows even on the television and radio stations owned by the parties. Today, just before Thake was due to go live at 4.30pm, the Broadcasting Authority issued its ruling to this effect.

The Broadcasting Authority has never become involved in the choices and decisions made by political parties regarding their own candidates or party media. It concerns itself only with the public service broadcaster and the presence of political candidates on TVM and Radio Malta.

This is a disgusting turn of events, and entirely in line with the manner in which the Castille gang are systematically using every means possible to silence their most successful and effective critics.
