They ask for proof, and when they get it, they call it lies

Arriving at the Courts of Justice this morning: here are eight box files of documentary evidence (‘proof’ is established by a court of law in a final judgement) that Keith Schembri, the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, laundered €650,000 with the then managing director of the Times of Malta and The Sunday Times, Adrian Hillman, between 2011 and 2015.

Supporters of the Labour Party have been mobilised already to call this evidence ‘lies’, when it is right there in black on white.

Keith Schembri himself hasn’t denied it at all. Adrian Hillman has not denied receiving the money (he can’t, because it is documented) but has denied receiving it as kickbacks for the supplies Schembri sold to Progress Press Ltd and Allied Newspapers Ltd, which he ran at the time.

And the Prime Minister is defending Schembri by saying that this is “a rehashed old story” – oh, so that’s all right then.
