Saviour Balzan – as dumb as Ritianne
Saviour Balzan has written a comment beneath his own video-blog purportedly in defence of Julia Farrugia.
It’s a comment that shows, if further proof were necessary, that he is as dumb as KullHadd’s Ritianne Agius and that at the grand old age of almost 50 (new baby and all) he still talks through the seat of his pants.
Here’s the comment.

Perhaps we should all pause a little and see what has happened in the last hours. Questions sent to the Office of the Prime Minister’s Communications officer Gordon Pisani by the newspaper Kullhadd are leaked to guess whom. They are pasted on her blog. Okay, nothing happens. Then this morning Gordon Pisani’s replies which do not get published in Kullhadd appear on the same blog. Ara vera stupida, jew inkella ma tisthix. Now, if there was ever proof that the office of the Prime Minister is behind these attacks and all the hatred, this is it. In another country Gordon Pisani would be out of his job. This is my first comment. Watch out for my videoblog tomorrow Monday and more and more.

That’s what happens to people when they were hysterical to begin with and are now not getting enough sleep at night because there’s a baby wailing and feeding.
They fail to read things properly, to assemble the facts and to analyse them critically.
So they end up flat on their faces, as our Saviour has done here.
Ritianne Agius sent her questions – the same, identical set – to every member of parliament on the PN ticket. I said as much in my original post on the subject. Lots of people had those questions, so the odds were that a few of them would send them to me, precisely because they are about me.
Some people do like me, Saviour, you know, even if it might seem odd to you.
I received the questions by email from four MPs and also from a journalist who does not work for the Nationalist media, but who had also obtained them from an MP.
Yet hysterical Saviour has taken it for granted that I got them “from Gordon” – that would be Gordon Pisani, head of communications at the office of the prime minister – because it fits in with his beautiful little conspiracy theory that I am paid by GOnZIpn to write this blog.
He can’t get his head round the fact that I do it for fun, when he offered me a job at Malta Today a couple of years ago and I basically told him where to stuff it. Why would I turn down Malta Today’s money and then write this stuff for free? Saviour just doesn’t get it.
Because I would rather write for nothing than write for you, Saviour. I am not it-tifla tal-Botom.
In the same way that I was sent KullHadd’s questions by a few people who had received them, so I was sent the stock reply by at least two of the 50 or so people who had it before it was sent to KullHadd.
The people who received the questions also received the answer, which was standard because it was the government line.
So no, Saviour, it wasn’t ‘Gordon’. You’re too much of a damned fool to work out that if everyone had the questions, then everyone had the answer and given that there are so many of them, there are bound to be a few who will pass them on to me for the simple reason that they are about me.
As for the reply not being published in KullHadd, isn’t it obvious why it wasn’t? It wasn’t published because Ritianne was outfoxed with an answer that fell far short of what her bosses wanted.
I don’t know what they wanted exactly, but it certainly wasn’t a lecture about free speech and the Labour Party’s inability to understand it.

Trust Saviour Balzan to miss the point as usual. “NOW IF THIS IS NOT SERIOUS WHAT IS?” and by that he doesn’t mean the government-in-waiting’s strong reservations about the freedom of speech of those who oppose it. Nor does he mean the Labour Party’s attempts to get the government to condemn a blog – Chinese style.
No, what Saviour means by THIS IS SERIOUS is the fact that somebody sent Daphne questions that were, after all, about her.
But then why should we expect better? Saviour has just produced that jihad videoblog calling for much the same thing as the Labour Party is doing: condemnation of a writer who operates, or so she thinks, in a European democracy.
I agree. The only thing that Mr Balzan thinks is serious is the fact that the PL weren’t allowed to get away with it.
Note to Saviour Balzan: if a party is trying to put a stop to a journalist’s writing, just because it doesn’t like what that journalist says, then that party can only expect such a thing to be reported in the press. I think whoever sent her a copy of those questions did the right thing since they concern Daphne.
What would you prefer? That the government went along with going behind Daphne’s back? And besides, even if a few individuals hadn’t informed her, which would have been very bad practice on their behalf, they still would have sent the same reply.
No, this isn’t proof that Daphne works for the PN. This is just proof of how underhanded the PL can be just to get its way with its target.
The replies weren’t published because they weren’t the replies they wanted. In fact, the replies basically outline how wrong it was for Kullhadd to have asked those questions to begin with.
Is it just me or do Mr Balzan’s posts sound less like journalism and more like some bored teenaged conspiracy theorist’s rant?
It’s like he’s trying very hard to make reality fit in with his fantasy of what is going on. What will he think of next?
He is 100% right. That letter is worthu of aMubarak apparatchick just before his fall.
Saviour Balzan’s antics make my admiration for you soar to the skies. Thank you Daphne – if only we had more like you.
What is wrong if something like this is leaked to the media? Has Saviour ever heard about Wikileaks?

Saviour is a journalist and he should be out there fighting for freedom of expression, not condoning and actually defending those who are trying to suppress it.

But what has CHANGED the man? Up to five years ago, I was an avid reader of Malta Today, with its incisive and unbiased (in my view) reporting.
Mr. Balzan had no qualms in unearthing past political dirt. But now, the newspaper’s editorial line and Saviour Balzan himself have changed entirely.
Could it be only just because of backing the wrong horse? But now he seems to have changed stable altogether. He is of course entitled to change his views, but such a radical change?
I think he needs some quiet time.
I don’t think Mr. Balzan has changed, Another John. It’s business. Malta Today was never the sort of paper that would be popular with the supporters of the party that’s in government while its balanced reporting (criticizing government and opposition in equal measure) did not find much favour with PL supporters either.
Balzan spotted an untapped market, made the necessary shift and now has PL supporters gushing praise and boosting sales.
How could they close down a blog hosted in the US? Get the CIA to do it? I find it amazing that they get so worked up about a 12 dollar weblog written in someone’s spare time as a hobby!

I just listened to Saviours blog. What makes him ‘so convinced’ that ‘they are all lies’?
Is he in the know about something else? In that case he should go to the police.

After seven years, I am still puzzled why John ‘exiled’ Dalli, chose this moron as his campaign manager.
