A pincer movement on the Chamber of Advocates

Published: January 20, 2011 at 1:20am

The Chamber of Advocates is about to hold elections to its committee. Members of Consuelo Herrera’s circle appear to be attempting a pincer movement.

These are three of the candidates:

1. Vince Micallef (part of her inner circle and a frequent guest at her At Homes; his car is seen parked outside her house and he is photographed at her parties)

2. Andy Ellul (also part of the Consuelo Herrera/Charlon Gouder/Jason Micallef circle)

3. Veronique Dalli (works for Jose Herrera and one of his sister’s party guests)

Now all she needs is for one of them – if elected, obviously – to be nominated president of the chamber, a role which comes with a seat on the Commission for the Administration of Justice.

And before you begin squawking to the police for the protection of your honour and integrity, Magistrate Herrera, you should know – given that you heard so many libel suits involving your friends and cohorts before the Chief Justice had them withdrawn from your court – that this is not just a legitimate observation in a democracy, but a valid and essential one.

The pictures show Vince Micallef at Magistrate Herrera’s 45th birthday party, and Andy Ellul with Robert Musumeci at a New Year’s Eve party organised by Magistrate Herrera in her spare-time role as promoter (for charity).

If this happens we will never hear about procedures against Magistrate Herrera ever again.

And how presumptuous of Veronique Dalli to contest. Kemm avvanzat malajr id-dottoressa.

What a farce the legal profession will be reduced to if any of these so-called lawyers find themselves members of the Chamber’s Committee,

Veronique Dalli, Miriam’s sister, often has coffee with Consuelo Herrera at Cafe Cordina.

The last time I saw them there together, I had arrived before them and was waiting to be served. The waiter rushed up to serve them, ignoring me.

When I walked out, he had the cheek to ask me, ‘fejn sejjer?’ I told him that he had enough clients and left.

I still go there for my daily coffee, as I realised the problem was not the coffee shop, but the people, and I make sure I am served by somebody else.

This is a comment beneath the news story, on timesofmalta.com, about the appointment of the Iranian Republic’s new ambassador to Malta.

Your Excellency welcome to our ISLAND .. MALTA. Most of the MALTESE population are on your side supporting IRAN defying any sanctions on IRAN Though the EU bribed by usa imposed illegal sanctions on IRAN we do our outmost to see the country achieve it’s target and perhaps in near future we may be free to use your country main resource
    Joseph Cachia B’Bugia

Maybe he thinks the ambassador was duped into thinking that he was, in actual fact, not in MALTA but somewhere else. Imagine his dismay when all was revealed to him and how he must have rent his garments.

Secondly, how does he figure that most Maltese, who couldn’t give two hoots about what’s happening in their own country, support Iran in defying sanctions?

How are the Maltese showing support – by spiriting enriched uranium out of the country?

I had no idea, either, that the EU was bribed by the USA to impose sanctions. And then what about the Security Council’s imposed sanctions – did the USA bribe China and the Russian Federation as well?

Ah, but the sting is in the tail: we’re doing this so that we can use Iran’s main resource for free – petlor.

What sort of friends do you expect Magistrate Herrera to have? Dione borg? RCC?? Joe Saliba?

This is more than pedantry can stand. If this is a pincer movement, and one side of it as an attempted coup on the Chamber of Advocates, where/what is the the other arm?

[Daphne – Read that again: the pincer movement is ON the Chamber of Advocates. You have to consider the three attempts at election as three separate acts or, to satisfy your pedanty, two taken as one + one.]

Many thanks Daphne, keep it up and may God give you all that strength that you might need in your life.
