Seizing drug traffickers’ assets

Joseph Muscat has just spoken about the need to seize comprehensively the material assets of drug traffickers. I strained to see whether Emmanuel Mallia the Police and Army Minister was thumping the benches in approval with the rest of his colleagues, and couldn’t spot him.

Daphne, seizing the assets achieves nothing. Drugs are always seized. Then they are stored in the Law Courts building in Valletta. Join the dots.
Sieze the cash too.
Since Manuel Mallia’s clients are often drug dealers, it is no surprise that he had/has the half mil in ‘cash at home’ — they would probably choose to pay in cash, would they not?
The courts should seize all assets and cash accumulated via criminality.
Yes, stored, and did anyone ever witness these being incinerated?
Join this dot.
‘did anyone ever witness these being incinerated?’
Many people have witnessed this Jozef, admittedly in many small amounts in Paceville.
If you join the dots you get a line. Sniffffffff!
Mallia’s shadow now has a name: Conflict of Interest
Total eclipse suits him better.
This is a mise en scene, what does he intend to seize and on what pretext.
All that needs to be seized legally is already seized under normal procedures and stored by the government. Then it is destroyed in the case of drugs.
If he seizes property or other assets how are Emmanuel Mallia & Associates going to get paid?
Usually the accused gets bail so that he can carry out a hold-up or two to pay the fat man.
Seized after the legal bill is settled.
In cash.
Or Faberge’ eggs.
Decriminalizing drug-taking on the premise of its medicinal qualities is akin to saying that one reads Playboy magazine because of the academic literary value of its leading articles.
That’s what the late, unlamented Lino Cassar used to say. And thank God he’s no longer alive, because our prime minister would have had to make him Special Envoy to Hustler.
Kasco, Toni Abela, Manwel Mallia etc. must be delighted at the announcement.
The P.M. today praised Mallia during his budget speech. My interpretation of this is that Mallia will not lose his ministry, and there will be a scapegoat who will lose his job.
I wonder could it be the man in this photo with his boss.
I’ve already said it. It’s the telephone operator at the Police Depot
They obviously haven’t decided yet who it will be.
It will be the one who has the weakest grasp on their balls.
The one who is in a position to spill the least number of beans.
Alternatively it will be the one who gets offered the most financially attractive iced bun.
As far as I know it’s already in practice
Speaking of seizing, as far as I know, when a car is used in a crime, it is confiscated by the police until the Court decides what to do with it.
As Manwel Mallia’s official car was used in the famous shooting, it should now be in the police yard, until the case is closed.
It would be a great law to frame your enemies and steal their property.
Imagine a non ethical greedy bunch in political power using these frame-ups to kill two birds with one stone.
Any business person you do not like, just place a white block of something in their garage and let your police and the judicial system toadies do the rest.
This, in addition to the AFM Fiscal/ Border Police.
The reach is intended to be far.
It would be better than the glory years of the real Spanish Inquisition.
The family had to even pay for the cost of the torturer’s service and for the faggots to burn the condemned to death, on top of confiscation of all property.
Imagine the windfall to these greedy bunch sharing the spoils, like vultures on carrion but on a steady basis.
This is why I have been saying here that their network is extended. This work has been done by this Labour team since before both last elections. All they are doing is making it official and gaining official access to an extended official network.
They used to that in the middle ages. Anyone who reported that a person was a witch, would get the witch’s property if she was proven to be so.. No wonder witch hunts were popular.
Seizure of ALL assets of convicted drug traffickers was enacted during one of the earlier Fenech Adami administrations. It seems that Muscat is not satisfied yet with the innumerable lies fast ones that he has tried to pull on us. Now he wants to enact a law that is already there.
What’s next? Telling us that he will be announcing the greatest invention of all time? (Spoiler: The Wheel) Or maybe convening a super urgent press conference telling us that He has submitted Malta’s application for EU membership?
Forget seizing assets – it looks like Manwel Mallia’s seized all the goodies from the pantry.
MLP are experts in seizing assets. Look at the number of private residencies and public buildings turned into MLP clubs during the 70’s. Now we have the Australia Hall scandal. It never ends does it, under the MLP.
Now it’s renamed PL by Joseph, to try to detoxify the party from its horrific past. I wonder what acronym Muscat’s successor will come up with. Maybe MTLk?
Was Keith Schembri aware of that speech?
This is standard practice and is done by court order for drug traffickers and money laundering suspects. The courts even have a unit to handle this. Jaqaw Joseph wants to add these to his budget too?
