The official visit of Premier of the Republic of Malta Joseph Muscat to Azerbaijan Republic has ended.A guard of honor was lined up for PM Joseph Muscat at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries.The Prime Minister was seen off by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov and other officials.

Joey’s Silk Road Roadshow: – It takes you past the Glorious Azeri Dictatorship, where you pick up an MOU or two, then onto Shiv Nair’s Blacklist Shop from where you buy those shady introductions using public funds, on to the Beijing Bazaar, for more MOUs and a brief stop at the Shanghai Commission Hotel for some well earned rest.
On the way back, you travel through North Korea, Singapore and back home via the House of Saudi Arabia Kingdom selling medals, visas and passports.
When you are back at home, you open your bags and bring out the secret agreements which unfortunately contain the “commercially sensitive” details that cannot be disclosed at any cost. But you can give the media those useless MOUs instead.
He must feel relieved he got out of that living hell.
Not that he looked out of place there.
All that Mussolini posturing he showed in all the pictures taken under strict orders of the Azeri dictatorship are very complementary to the dull design of palaces, museums and exhibitions, and to the general mood of the country which excels in corruption and violation of human rights.
It must be the kind of country he dreams to one day be the President of, in the presence of the First Lady: the Wife of the …well, President.
Lest Joseph Muscat sees himself as a trailblazer, here is a little reminder from this week in 1977 which shows that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
