This should be interesting

Evarist Bartolo is not going to leave the field wide open to Labour’s Metrosexual 1 (Metrosexual 2 is Jason Micallef). Those of you who haven’t kept up with the 21st century, find out more about metrosexuality. David Beckham is the archetype.

Metrosexual Beckham – spot the inspiration

Well, the best I can say about Evarist Bartolo is that at least he looks like a man and behaves like one, which is a distinct advantage when you’re not a woman. He doesn’t wear pink ties or use face cream or spend hours shaping his goatee. And he doesn’t use a publicity photo in which he is featured staring into the distance. The last two blonds who pulled that one off were Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (see below).

Definitely not metrosexual: men who drove women wild – definitely not Joseph Muscat, though he does his best

    “hours shaping his goatee”

    You must be joking!

  3. Daphne Caruana Galizia says:

@SB – yes, actually, we are joking. Hadn’t you noticed?

  4. SB says:

Of course I did! Otherwise I wouldn’t be visiting ;-). However, in my opinion, that lacks the usual ‘subtle DCG sense of humour’.

Meerkat – I’m going to give those links a little more attention.

and I thought that metrosexuality meant an inclination towads having sex in the subway …

as Man Utd fans used to joke – the reason we have such a good team is because our players are so intelligent … ok, ok, we’ve got David Beckham …

Daph – I think you should consider renumbering the MLP metrosexuals.

I, for one, consider a man wearing a wig – and, it seems, choosing which wig to wear depending on the occasion/weather – extremely off-putting. Doesn’t that count as being vain, too. Get it?

  9. Daphne Caruana Galizia says:

@Amanda – don’t say ‘get it?’ because you sound like Jo (without an e) Said. Sant is anything but a metrosexual.

  10. Ivan M says:

@ Amanda….purlease!!! Wearing bad roadkill on your head is not metrosexual by any stretch of the imagination.

  11. Amanda Mallia says:

Ivan M – I know, I know. I was simply trying to imagine the guy deciding which wig to wear when – Isn’t that some kind of vanity on his part?

The fact that he wears a wig at all (whether ugly or not, though I consider all hair pieces on men to be so) is ridiculous in itself.

  12. Amanda Mallia says:

Daph – Maybe I was just getting nostalgia about the wig, since we haven’t seen much of it lately …
