Who cares about the particle-smasher? Here's Denis, with his pAtition.

Published: September 10, 2008 at 11:38pm

Dennis Catania emigrated from Malta to the USA with his family when he was a child. But that hasn’t stopped him campaigning against illegal immigrants in Malta. You would think his time might be taken up with the Mexicans crossing the border, but no. Instead, he spends his time posting comments on internet forums and comments-boards hosted in Malta, and promises his version of the Million Man March on Washington, except with no blacks involved, I would imagine. Another initiative he’s taken is an on-line pAtition against illegal migration to Malta, for all the world as though there is anyone around who is for it, except for the criminals and racketeers who are making money from the unsafe passage. His pAtition is hosted on the internet petition site gopetition.com, a place where losers with nothing better to do lurk in search of a cause that takes their fancy, in between munching on alfalfa sprouts.

Save Malta from illegal immigrants – 440 Signatures

Published by Denis Catania on Aug 27, 2008
Category: National Affairs
Region: Malta
Target: Concerned Maltese in Malta and abroad

Description/History:
For the past five years, Malta has been faced with an onslaught of illegal immigrants from the African continent. Malta is one of the most overpopulated countries in the world, a situation which is already problematic to the Maltese. Apart from land, the island lacks also any natural resources. Suffice to say that it has to obtain water from the sea, at a high energy cost. Furthermore, this never ending high influx of immigrants will inevitable destabilise the island, as from international experience and events, we believe that most unrest in the world is caused by conflicts between different cultures, ethnicities and religions, within the same country. We cherish our social harmony, so necessary for the tourism industry, our lifeline. Malta is too small to absorb this. The Maltese people have the right to their identity and living space, and to defend against being overwhelmed.
Petition:
To Prime Minister Gonzi and United Nation Ambassador S. Borg.

Malta signed Refugee conventions and treaties in good faith and to help. However the present situation is that these are now being abused, as illegal immigrants overwhelmed the system of asylum.
We believe that the international community should help Malta by timely and effectively sharing the burden and accepting the majority of refugees landing on the island, which Malta cannot cope with. This is outlined in the said conventions. Failing this, we believe that Malta should opt out of the treaties, repatriate all illegal immigrants back, and stop illegal immigrants from coming to Malta.

Does Maltese have an equivalent word for “loser”? If not it’s about time someone made it up. I agree, this Denis Catania is a loser with a capital “l”. What a fool!

  2. Matthew says:

Denis Catania thinks that there is a link between desalination and ethnic conflict, and apparently so do 440 other people. This is more a survey of idiocy than a petition.

  3. Corinne Vella says:

Matthew: Dennis Catania’s pAtition is not the only action he’s taking. There’s also a string of protests planned: outside the office of the Maltese Ambassador to the UN, outside the EU office in New York, and (get this) at NBA matches where he hopes to target African Americans. Apparently he thinks he’s doing the Maltese prime minister’s job, though I can’t imagine why the job description of a prime minister of any country, let alone Malta, would include placards and protests at basketball matches in the USA.

  4. Daphne Caruana Galizia says:

And it seems that many of the signatories to his pAtition have given their name as ‘Anonymous’ and littered the remarks section with vulgarities and expletives. He’s best go over it a little before printing it out for Barack Obama.

  5. reason says:

Not to be a party pooper but does anyone else notice that whenever the immigrants issue rears its head, the comments on the blogs just dry up? Food for thought methinks.

(Daphne – Explain yourself a little better, please.)

  6. reason says:

It’s just that in my opinion people seem to be reluctant to go for or against this issue. They just tend to remain on the sidelines. To my way of thinking ,they are tacitly wishing that these people would just disappear into thin air. In their hearts they feel compassion for these unfortunates but when they use their logic, they see huge problems and burdens for real day life. So they just don’t take a stand…..

  7. Daniela says:

did anyone see the article about this loser in today Orizzont??

[Daphne – Can you post a link here, please?]
