Firewood

My usual man tells me he’s not delivering firewood anymore. Does anyone out there know of somebody who can deliver and stack a small lorry-load? I can’t be doing with picking up those nifty little sacks from Wied Incita twice a week.

[Daphne – L-injam minn dejjem kien skars hawn Malta, peress li ma’ tantx ghandna foresti.]

Drive over with your truck to Beersel, I’ve got lots of firewood.

[Daphne – If I had a lorry, I wouldn’t be asking for somebody who can deliver, would I? If you want an excuse to see me, Kevin, be more creative.]

I’m in no need of an agony aunt, Daphne, but thanks for the thought.

Guess with all the name change, the Partit Laburista (New Labour haha) will have plenty of spare wood…y’know the old torca tal-lejber with the old moniker malta lejber party around it have to come down… torch the whole lot.

is it just delivery you want? If you know where you are going to buy the wood and need delivery I can send you a couple of phone numbers.

[Daphne – No, I need somebody who also supplies the wood. Most of those who do sell it in nifty sacks that last just an afternoon. I need a ‘vjagg’, not in sacks. But coincidentally, I also need to move a lot of stuff this week, so please email me those numbers. You have my address.]

Forgot the name…but it’s the shop opposite the WSC HQ going up from Marsa to Luqa. They used to have some good firewood, not sure about delivery …but most probably they do it. Will try to get the name/contact when i drive by later…..

    [Daphne – Thanks.]

No one beats them…hey, I’m not related…but I just moved from Gozo to Malta and was impressed, really.

[Daphne – Thanks. It’s important to promote those who do good work, especially if they don’t have the budget to advertise. If you live in central Malta and need any work done on your car-tyres, the only place to go is Apollo, on the road out of Naxxar to Mosta, just next to Scotts supermarket. They’re three brothers from Mqabba and they’re super-efficient. People go there from all over.]

Maybe Borg Bros do not advertise, but they are well known just the same. It’s a strong family business which could teach other local companies a thing or two about quality of service and customer satisfaction.

George Debattista of Msida, has both for sale and would deliver I presume.
Another alternative would be a carpenter with all those shavings and pieces of wood.

Daphne, I do endorse Ivan Falzon’s comment on Borg Brothers. Their service is impeccable.

Daph – Re removals / moving of heavy items (even within the same building), Sunny Boy / Zambaret are quite OK, if I am not mistaken.

The men can usually be found in their trucks (waiting for work) next to Hamrun Spartans, on the corner before turning into Mile End near the glass house.

Dexter removals were also quite efficient and the cheapest I found when moving house a few years ago, though possibly that could have been because they were just starting out. I don’t know how they compare (price-wise) with others now.

daphne’, if u have a saw and a small van u can come and cut up two trees that I have . They are dry and dead.

Daphne, the following is a supplier of wood who delivers for bulk orders, but I have not yet bought any wood since I have not organised my garage for storage purposes. The number is 79868165. Sorry, no names or anything, just a number scribbled down. Also might I suggest you try a form of clean brazier coal imported from the UK. I find that if you mix it in with wood, the fire lasts much longer and is more intense. Again scribbled down number is 21454861. It’s a firm in Rabat and they do deliveries. I buy wood from Cortis in Zebbug but I am not sure if they do deliveries and I go through the hassle of buying in small quantities since I don’t have much storage space. They might deliver if you order a large amount. Sometimes though the wood is wet and burns terribly.

    [Daphne – Thanks.]

  15. Hi Daphnie.
I can supply and deliver all the wood you need.
    Contact No 79808074

[Daphne – I’ve just had a truckload delivered, but it’s good to have your number for future orders and other people here might need it too.]
