I'm having another one of my giant sulks

Muscat misses the farewell dinner because he’s eating hamburgers in Sqallija ma’ Anglu Farrugia u n-nisa taghhom. Now Sant misses the inauguration because, 12 years down the line, he hasn’t forgiven George Abela for dumping him. George Vella, that other member of the 1996 Winning Team trio, didn’t turn up either. He’s sulking, too.

What a bunch, honestly.

Alfred Sant and George Vella are yesterday’s (failed) men. Their petulant behaviour demonstrates their unsuitability for leadership. They should have retired ages ago – they are now only a drag on the attempt to make Labour an alternative to the present government. I recommend Alfred Mifsud’s analysis in today’s The Malta Independent on Sunday.

I cannot pinpoint the root cause why the MLP leaders and deputy leaders constantly quarrel between themselves and in public. The names of Jason, Joseph, Alfred Sant, Mintoff, KMB, George Vella, Michael Falzon, Toni Abela, Anglu Farrugia, and Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi are synonymous with angry faces and this kind of quarrelling. When any two of these names are mentioned together in the media the chances are that we will be hearing about some internal quarrel in the Partit tal-Le(jber).

It’s the only thing they are good at!

Although if truth be told, we saw two (to mention a few) Nationalist people (Dalli and Pullicino Orlando), well not exactly quarrelling, but saying things they may regret in the future. I shall never forget Dalli going on Super One to cry out his heart because somebody wanted him out of the party, and then Pullicino Orlando on Bondi+ saying that there are people who wanted him to shut up. These things shouldn’t be said in public.

Now that you mention it, they were also absent when Parliament approved George Abela as president.

    Ciao Daphne :)

Come on, admit it… Sant looks drop-dead gorgeous in those sunglasses! Don’t you agree? (Qishu il bodyguard. Haha.)

  5. Andrea Sammut says:

    Dear all

You all have a point, including Alfred Mifsud whom you cite, but thank goodness that His Excellency George Abela did not have his way in 1998. Remember he left the Labour Party because he didn’t want the Labour government to call an early general election? Where would Malta be today had George Abela had his way? Surely the 2004 EU enlargement would have been missed.
