    Just one word-STUPID

    • Tonio Farrugia says:

Not so stupid after all. Some airports have temperature sensors to scan areas with incoming passengers. Istanbul airport is an example. If the temperature is indicated at fever level, the passenger/s are quarantined and tested further.

And these have proven to be useless to prevent the spread of the flu virus. There is nothing that we can do to stop it entering the country except take the drastic action (with very dire and catastrophic consequences) of completely isolating the islands. Taking simple precautions such as frequent handwashing, keeping away from overcrowded places and calling in a doctor at the first possible signs, would help to reduce its spread.

I don’t think she is any different then any other visitor except that she is a tv personality and have plenty of cash to throw about,, if i were in the same position i too will be dishing it about to charities and others around me just like Elvis, Jacko and Madonna, so really its money talking and nothing else, ofcourse had that been the Pope then i say yes by all means, but she is just a celebrity and nothing else. Goodbye and have a nice stay.

Oprah Spinfree from the Obama deception crew is in Malta? That’s great news for wise suckers. Wish Bernanke could visit now. With his money printing machine he could throw more cash around.

  3. Aaron says:

I believe they call them thermometers.

  4. John Schembri says:

We went to Barcelona two weeks ago, took the simple precautions and we have no problems. Oprah came from Barcelona. Let’s put her in an isolation hospital and keep her here for a month.

  5. Karl says:

Some people seem to grasp at anything that gives the impression that all is going wrong in Malta as long as we have Gonzi and Co. Adrian Agius, author of Temperature Cameras at MIA reminds me of Frank, ” Some mothers do have ’em”. On the other hand we have John Schembri who was practical and therefore safe and sound. The Russians biex jinh…ew u jimluna pixxikalda u jkissru familji Maltin, the Romanians biex jisirqu mill-hwienet; the Arabs ghan-nisa u xorb, the Africans biex jihdulna pajjizna u jsiru sinjuri min fuq dahrna; it-Taljani ma jistghux jaraw dublett etc. etc.

U issa gejjien it-tfal ta’ Torero u barrin ha jmarrduna. Such is the mentality of those who believe they should be the judges of Renzo Piano’s project.

  6. Corinne Vella says:

So the foreign invaders are infecting us, eh? That should make the racists’ blood boil – or not, given that we’re not talking about Africans.

  7. jomar says:

As a matter of fact, Adrian Agius, you will be pleased to know that a large consignment of rectal thermometers has just been offloaded at Malta International Airport. They need a volunteer to make sure their readings are accurate.

  8. Hubert says:

I went to Barcelona two weeks ago. Although there is H1N1 there, there was absolutely no fuss whatsoever about the virus. Some people just want to make some noise to attract our attention I suppose. As if they never passed on a virus to someone else.

Plenty more billions for the pharmadukes. Good work, this – three viruses in one – and it will mutate, the makers say. Mexico proved to be a great incubator, and Canada will introduce compulsory vaccination for all. Plenty of billions there. US to follow. Hope it works. FEMA camps ready with coffins, but not sure if it works. Well done pharmadukes. Great conspiracy. Only the serious scientists say we did it. The bandwogon ones are all with us on this. The people are real dupes and Pravda is all with us. Success folks!

    • John II says:

You forgot to mention Area 51 and the fact that Elvis is alive and well and living in a Tibetan monastery.

    • Mario De Bono says:

Hurray for us Pharmadukes! We habitually invent viruses and let them out on some poor unsuspecting country so that we can reap billions in medicines and vaccines sales. Oh, the fact that unregulated farms with no idea of animal hygiene exist in the Third World has really nothing to do with it.

On a related note, I propose “J. Norman (English)” as asshole of the week for his comment to the Times’s on-line “Updated: Swine Flu cases rise to 16” story. What the hell is wrong with these British expats in Malta?

“With respect@Albert Farrugia Malta is a free country and everyone is responsible for his or her actions, as long as people like yourself keep away from me thats no problem sunshine., i intend to respect the Health and Safety advice and the people around me, i will certainly will not be attending any MTV concerts or any so called Maltese talent music shows, no way Pedro! i got radios and a BID SCREEN telly i can safely watch music venues from the comfort of me own villa, failing that in this weather we spend most of our time BBQ’g on our big patio by the large swimming pool.. …and while regular flu kills tens of thousands annually, H1N1 gets top-rated by WHO before it kills its first 100. That’s because, as predicted, this virus morphs and it resists all known treatments. That is why it requires the enforced innoculation of whole populations with wonder vaccines. And it hardly matters that mass innoculations have been known to cause more deaths than they save lives (especially when Frenzy Rules OK).

The WHO says it’s been stockpiling on Tamiflu pills, just in case. Stockpiling is good for subsidised business. Pandemic, health panic, lunar manic, what the heck – it all helps enforce good order and further alienates the people from the financial collapse yet to be witnessed.

Problem – reaction – solution. Enforced innoculations, then. And let the people obey. US FEMA camps are good for subsidised business too. What’s good for subsidised business is good for big government – and that can only be good for corporate fascism.

  12. Poppi says:

We just cannot all live in a bubble. We should be cautious and stop alarming everybody around us.

  13. jomar says:

There is no such thing as ‘enforced inoculation’ against H1N1 flu or influenza of any other kind, not in Canada and not anywhere else.

As a matter of fact although highly recommended, flu shots for the young and the seniors, are preceded with a disclaimer stating that the shot is no guarantee that it will match any impending flu for the coming season but that it may help to minimize the effect of the particular strain.

Flu shots are manufactured some six months in advance of the fall season when the type of strain is not even known yet, In the case of H1N1, Canada is still researching an effective vaccination and still months away from producing one.
