Saviour Balzan – yet another a la carte Catholic

Saviour Balzan has been on one of his usual benders over the past few days, only this time the target of his ire is not the usual suspects but the pope and the Catholic Church.

To commemorate the pope’s visit to Malta, he’s been banging on about hypocrisy, double standards, the evils of the paedophile church, and the nastiness of not issuing invitations to lovers and mistresses or partners or whatever they call them nowadays for want of a better word.

His article last Wednesday was small-minded and tacky and his piece today was even worse, if that’s at all possible.

But guess what? The ruddy hypocrite is getting married by the Roman Catholic rite in a Roman Catholic church on 8 May. Yes, that’s right – a priest is going to marry him.

And that truly ghastly man, the deputy leader of the Labour Party, Toni Abela, is going to be his witness. But let’s leave that for now. Those two should really marry each other and stroll off into the sunset.

You’d have thought that somebody with Saviour’s sentiments would be heading for the registry office, or having a nice civil ceremony in the gardens of Palazzo Parisio or on the terrace of the Westin Dragonara.

But no. We want to have our cake and eat it, too.

Methinks ‘our Saviour’ has taken his name too literally.

  2. salvu says:

you are sick woman really sick, clean your own house from all your cobwebs, that should keep you busy for the rest of your miserable life.

Salvu, truth hurts, very very much.

      • Isard du Pont says:

I guess this spells the end of his sympathy-raising by using what he and his colleagues in that shoddy newsroom refer to as ‘his dead wife’. Not unless his live wife is a masochist, that is.

  3. red-nose says:

Salvu – I think you should thank Daphne for her efforts to open the eyes of those who cannot see the light. Admittedly the method is a bit forceful, but I feel that we all owe her our thanks.

Mur hu kafe Salvu u hallina bil-kwiet, kemm int fitt.

There is no greater hypocrite than Saviour Balzan. He did it to the government when it was discussing Malta’s accession to the EU, and he is doing it now. The man is truly without any moral fibre.

    • Isard du Pont says:

I think he’s a bit of a lost soul who’s trying to find some way of getting what he wanted by dissing those who got it before he did.

Salvu – when one speaks the truth, it hurts those who are living a double life. It hurts very much. Just tell Consie and Salvu.

Ah come on, Daphne, maybe his wife-to-be talked him into it. You know weddings, when the bride gets to be the centre of attention for what is probably the first and last time.

You can’t expect these people to show transparency and consistency.

So what do you say, people? Have a custard cream and think happy thoughts. Enough with the entirely justified broadsides already.
