While the Labour media protest because they suspect the prime minister has asked his men to cut down on putting more people on the public-sector payroll, it turns out that Anglu Farrugia is not On Message.
What a surprise.
Here’s an item from The Malta Independent this morning.
92% of job increases were in public sector – Anglu Farrugia
Labour MP Anglu Farrugia, Labour deputy leader for parliamentary affairs, said the Labour Force Survey which has just been published shows that the number of jobs has risen by 4,164 when compared to last year.
But analysing the statistics shows that 3,819 or 92 per cent of these jobs were due to employment with the government and the public sector.
Dr Farrugia said Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi claims that his aim is to reduce the number of government employees, so it would be appropriate for him to explain these Labour Force statistics.
