PL thanks participants in emblem-selection process

The shortlisted designs for the PL emblem.
The Labour Party this afternoon thanked all those who had submitted their preference for its new emblem.

The period for the submission of preferences closed yesterday. Members and non-members had been invited to vote for their preferred emblem from a shortlist of three through SMS. Non-members joined the PL with their submission.

The party did not say how many SMSs it had received.

It said, however, that this had been a historic process which also reflected the way the party was opening up itself for everyone.

Submissions are now being verified. An announcement of the winner will be made during a special ceremony in the coming weeks.

The PL is currently celebrating the 90th anniversary of its founding.

Hadn’t they better sit down, write some policy, and tell us how they’re going to run the country instead? If reworking their emblem is proving to be so time-consuming, spread out over many months and several complicated stages and levels, then I hate to think how they plan to implement the living wage for the entire public sector, raising taxation by EUR2 million a week (yes, a week) to pay for it.

The Labour Party with its emblem puts me in mind of a mittilkless couple choosing their bathroom – a million visits to every showroom on the island, checking and rechecking, getting advice from every member of the family, a couple of designers and heaven knows what else besides, and the whole project of fitting a bathroom in a blinking maisonette takes longer than refitting an entire hotel.

Why is the PL celebrating 90 years since it was founded? Isn’t the old party dead, and a new one – which is still without an emblem – founded a year or so ago?

“The party was opening up itself for everyone.”

Sounds a bit like the blurb on the cover of “Offertes à Tout 12 : Fantasmes de Minettes”.

  3. Hot Tongs says:

‘The party was opening up itself for everyone’. Did Anthony Zammit perform the procedure?

As for Tony Zarb here – mmmm, nice. Was he at Magistrate Herrera’s masked ball, raising funds for Dar il-Providenza?

    Images of Cannery Row.

Dig that gold watch. Was it a retirement present?

That report sounds like a press release issued by a band club.

Next hot headline: Labour Party opens envelope.

‘Striving to be a centre of aviation excellence…’. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it’s still all about ‘il-kontijiet tad-dawl u l-ilma’, or Renzo Piano vs kompetizjoni ghall-arma tal-partit.
