After his rousing start to the week banging and thumping on the parliamentary benches, Anglu Farrugia is off to Azerbaijan with Joe Debono Grech (and Karl Gouder from the Nationalist Party, poor thing) to observe the elections there for the OSCE.

Then he’ll come back with fresh ideas as to how gONziPN seraq the election.

No, hopefully they will see he is so very bright that they decide to keep him there !

  2. Ian says:

Oh poor Karl…joining the possibly two most homophobic MPs in the House.

    • Fairy Liquid says:

Poor Karl? He’s going to have the hell of an amusing time watching Farrugia and Debono Grech fending off the Azerbaijani hookers in the bar, something they will both be obliged to do because of the prescence of the other.

      Jew b’xejn jew xejn!

  3. Pat says:

Mank izommuh hemm jahassra. Li kien il-Bambin.

  4. Pat says:

Din Etil mohha ezatt bhal tieghi tahsibha! Ipprecedietni imma.

  5. H.P. Baxxter says:

Oh sweet irony. He’s being sent to Azerbaijan to keep an eye out for the very same tactics he and his buddies used back in the 1980s.

  6. john says:

Is this a photo of Saddam Hussein’s cousin?

  7. C Falzon says:

Maybe he’s going there to learn some new tricks on how to rig an election. If I’m not mistaken it is a very well developed skill over there.

  8. Bus Driver says:

Eh, il-maj! Mela dak li kien qed jaghmel Anglu gewwa l-Indja. Kien qed jittrenja biex jaghraf id-differenza bejn kaxxa tal-voti u warrani ta’ iljunfant.

Fil-fatt, kif ga rajna fl-elezzjoni li ghaddiet, ga rnexxielu jaghmel patata bir-rapport li ressaq quddiem il-kummissarju tal-Pulizija dwar ix-xiri tal-voti.

Nahseb li ghalhekk issa ghazlu lilu biex josserva l-elezzjoniji, ghaliex wera li issa mharreg sewwa, kief jghidhu, bhalissa? cum laudam?

  9. daphnerocks says:

Thank God for Maltastar. Highly recommended to whoever is studying English.

  10. Luigi says:

When I see this photo I pray to almighty God to paralyse my hands if I ever think to vote Labour. So he went to Azerbaijan, of all places, to see the election process?

  11. Morna l-bahar says:

Jose` Herrera u l-boat owners l-ohra tal-marina tal-Gzira qed jippretendu li jibqghu hemm ghax ilhom hemm ‘il fuq minn tletin sena. Nahseb li meta tinhareg sejha ghall-offerti bil-kondizzjonijiet stabbiliti ghandhom jaghmlu l-offerta taghhom bhal kullhadd u jirbhuha huma, mhux min hu l-aqwa jhawwel.

Min kellu jottijiet f’marinas ohra ma nghatax drittijiet specjali, imma x-xedow minister tal-gustizzja, ghandu jinghata il-privilegg li jibqa fil-berth tieghu bil-hlas tal-lum.

Taht da l-gvern ta’ Gonzi l-anqas in-naqra ta’ kapricc biex tirmiggja naqra ta’ dghajsa ma baqghalu l-haddiem!

La jigi lura jibda jghid li sar espert u ikun irid jibda jghid li s-sistema taghna hazina u li l-kummissjoni elettorali ma tafx xi gifieri tmexxi elezzjoni.

Mur ara kemm sa jghidlu xorti lil Joseph il-Boy.

  13. pippo says:

U halluna hej – jekk ma jintghazelx Anglu lil min irridu jaghzlu? Wara kollox mhux ghal holliday sejjer.

Nispera li Joe Debono Grech ma jaqbadx xi haga kontra il-ligi u jibda jaghmel kjass shih bhalma jaghmel hawn Malta ghax hemm malajr issib xi cuc u jlaqqat xi daqqa.

    Have a nice holliday, delegazzjoni.

  14. Steve Forster says:

I imagine an all expenses paid, 5 star hotel in Baku (actually bloody expensive but beware of the local talent in the bar). Shedloads of oil, one leader system, brutal approach to criticism…sounds great for Inspettore Gadget.

  15. anthony says:

    Joe Debono Grech in Azerbaijan?

Is the PL plotting to dump him there?

I would not be at all surprised. After the “ross u ghagin” episode, he is a proven liability if any proof was ever required.

    Bidu Gdid.

    How sad for our country.

  16. Riya says:

Huwa unur kbir li tkun Deputat Mexxej tal-Partit Laburista gdid u modern u jibaghtuk barra minn Malta ma’ Joe Debono Grech. Jekk il-Boy mhux se jaghmel xi haga u ma jridx juri lill-Gadget.

  17. PhiliP says:

Dak min hu? Ommi ma, ara kif kien jitterrorizzom waqt l-interrogazzjoni.

  18. Chris says:

I wonder what the criteria are to be chosen for such a task. How is Anglu Farrugia’s presence supposed to add any credibility to this election? He’s hardly a beacon of democracy. I bet the decision went something like this.

‘Who wants to go on holiday to Azerbaijan?’

It makes you wonder about all the other election observation teams the EU and UN regularly send to all corners of the globe.

  19. TROY says:

The Labour elite met to decide who to send on the mission to Azerbaijan.

The village idiot was their first choice and their second choice had to be someone compatable with the first.

So it’s going to be Pasta & Rice Brain Joe and Let’s Get Him As Far From Us As We Can Anglu.

  20. red nose says:

I suppose, after Azerbaijan, it will be a nostalgic trip to North Korea with Alex Sceberras Trigona.

  21. P Shaw says:

Given Labour’s past involvement with voter intimidation in Zejtun, I wonder what credibilty these two old hardcore Labour chaps might bring in this useless trip. What a joke.

  22. Joseph Micallef says:

Not that it matters but I think the police cap was a couple of sizes too small for his head.

Was police uniform procurement also a one-size-fits-all bulk-buying procedure?

    • JoeM says:

The uniform is that of a superintendent. Farrugia became superintendent after the 1987 elections.

[Daphne – That’s not what he says in his bio on his wabsajt.]

      • JoeM says:

He couldn’t have been promoted to the rank of superintendent under Lawrence Pullicino’s reign as Commissioner of Police. His promotion came about after he assisted Alfred Calleja in bringing Pullicino to justice – well after 1987.

[Daphne – I know that. He was notoriously Inspector Farrugia until 1987 at least. But he’s lying on his website. This is taken from the ‘About Anglu’ section: “u ghandu esperjenza vasta fil-qasam tax-xoghol tieghu inkluz dak bhala pulizija, supretendent bejn 1977-1996.”]

  23. R. Camilleri says:

I need to vent this somewhere. What is it with everyone wanting to “condemn”? What happened to criticising, disagreeing, etc?

    I’m referring to this: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20101105/local/birdlife-condemns-pruning-of-trees-in-great-siege-square

  24. PhiliP says:

Tghidx mhux ser ihabbel rasu fuq l-Azerbaijan, Anglu. L-aqwa li mar safra b’xejn. Din mhux bhal tal-protesta fi Brussell tal-GWU?
