Did you know there’s a European Elvis Championship? Amazing. It was held last week in Birmingham.
This picture was published on the BBC’s online world news – the Day in Pictures, 6 January – and captioned ‘A pair of Elvises, both from Malta, wish each other luck backstage before taking part in the European Elvis Championships, held in the UK city of Birmingham.’

Then there’s the “Maltese Freddie Mercury” – Arthur Tonna … http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pf5B-3JZksI/R6OFqv8Ic6I/AAAAAAAAAkc/r_eNuOqcl4Y/s1600-h/tonna.jpg
Daphne, this post made my day. How enlightening!
Anyway, better than the Maltese man who let himself be used as a mat in the USA!
If that’s pathetic, then this has no other adjective attributable to it other than ‘indescribable’…

Some are a treat.
For the sake of realism, they should have included the swearing when the bird sh#t on him.
And on a deserted beach, a girl alone would have stood more chance of being flashed………..
What a soppy load of …………
And this is another Maltese Elvis – he hails from Qormi.

Until some years ago in Qormi we had Fredu Elvis, who wore his greasy-looking hair with a “nokklu”.
Are “nokklu” and “kiss me quick” the same thing?
[Daphne – No. A ‘nokklu’ is a quiff, and the style derives not from Elvis but from English Teddy-Boys. It was their hallmark hairstyle: http://theteddyboys.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/ALL-PHOTOS-249.jpg1.jpeg A kiss-me-quick was a small curl in front of each ear, a style – I hasten to add – restricted to young women.]
And one in Tokyo too.

At least this time round no one can say Only in Malta because there were several other Elvises coming from other countrie.
Sad really but then we have Joseph Muscat impersonating great statesmen…
Elvis must be turning in his grave.
Troy, you really nailed it. Only that in this case “rolling” is more appropriate than “turning.”
