Maltastar: Iman Obeidi was bungled out of the hotel

Iman Obeidi is bungled out of the Hotel Rixos

Over the weekend, a woman stormed in the Rixos Hotel, Tripoli’s journalists’ hotel, claiming that she has been raped by 15 Gaddafi soldiers. But she never had the opportunity to tell her full story as Gaddafi’s men and women stormed in and bungled her out of the hotel.

Sigh. I suppose the only reason the Labour Party’s news website covered the story in the first place is because they think it’s ‘spicy’. Other than that, you wouldn’t think there’s all that going on in and about Libya if you only go to Maltastar for news.

I expect they are following the boss’s advice and being ‘prudent’.

Well Maltarats does know a thing or two about bungling.

Amnesty International has described the Obeidi incident as “stomach churning”.

She is not a prostitute. She is not a drunk or a drug addict.

She is a lawyer doing a postgrad degree.

She was the one who had the guts to tell the tale.

The tale that the so-called human beings we were all happily associating ourselves with for the sake of a few easy blood-stained dinars are scum.

Pure unadulterated scum. The scum of the earth.

The Times reported today that the 4 beastly rapists will be suing this poor woman as according to them it is a crime accusing someone of a sexual crime. And what are the henious acts suffered by this woman called then? How will she ever be compensated?

Have you ever heard Joseph Muscat referred to as dashing! (as well as brilliant)

Is short and overweight making a comeback?

Daphne, you’re the fashion expert here. Please do tell us. I may have to start piling on the pounds.

[Daphne – The short answer is No. The longer answer is that Joseph Muscat has the stereotypical Maltese male figure: stocky torso on disproportionately short legs, with very short arms. Look around you, and you’ll see that this is the norm. Interestingly, a friend remarked over lunch the other day that from what she can detect via the television, the Libyans in Tripoli are very much the same shape and size as the Maltese, but then completely different in physique to the rebels from Benghazi, who are lean and long-limbed and because of that somehow manage to look stylish even in the thick of battle and wearing scrappy clothes. “It looks like we share a gene pool with the people of Tripoli but not with those of Benghazi,” she said. I got what she meant, because I had thought the other day that the odds are on the fall/winter fashion for men on the New York/Paris/London/Milan catwalks being inspired by ‘the Benghazi rebel’ look.]

      Consider the source first.

Every so often Valerie Borg tries (and fails) a come-back of sorts, she being the dashing and brilliant type!

  5. Unfortunate word choice that ‘bungled’ too…they probably meant bundled, but I’m not too sure.
