Cut this open, and Lawrence Gonzi will begin to sing

Alfred Sant made a mince pie of Gonzi and Fenech in their handling of the EFSF bill. He showed how amateurish they are. If Alfred Sant was mean he would have let them make the mess and then stop everything in the constitutional court and then the future of EFSF at EU level would have been abandoned.

And we would all have lived happily every after, especially Victor Caruana who, presumably, is never paid or never pays in Euros.

  2. edgar says:

I could not believe my eyes reading that there is still one person in Malta who can praise Alfred Sant. On the other hand there are still people who think that the previous leaders of the MLP were a Godsend.

Daphne, I am beginning to believe you when you insist the Muscat shall be walking up Castille’s steps in 18 months time.

  3. Jozef says:

    Where was Joseph?

  4. Holy Mackerel says:

I live in the UK thankfully. I really feel sorry for you people if you get this bunch of twats fucking the country in 18 months’ time. They haven’t a clue. It’s a pity the the vote is not means tested by way of an IQ test.

  5. Jake says:

If anyone dares to read carefully and without any bias, they will understand that what he is saying makes sense. Would anyone just sign an agreement to give 700 Million Euros just like that without checking the implications?

What is amazing it’s not that you find people that speak positively of Alfred Sant but that there are so “many” people that would agree to such a commitment without questioning. It’s really a pity that so many people are so politically blind that you would accept anything as long as it is their party that is doing it.

    Unbelievable.

    • Stefan Vella says:

Allow me a wild guess. You believe the the Euro is just another currency similar to the old Lira with equivalent global implications.

    • Dust says:

The commitment was definitively not discussed and explained properly. However Alfred Sant’s actions resemble legalistic nitpicking, if not an attempt to seek media attention at a possible (albeit, thankfully, remote) horrible political and economic cost.

    • Jozef says:

Joseph and his musical chairs financial spokesmen didn’t bat an eyelid.

Here’s another bit of fan mail for Sant beneath the timesofmalta.com report on the Peppi, Lou and Gino saga.

This reader wants to remind us that even though Sant lasted two years as PM, he “ruled” the country fairly. King Alfred anyone?

It was to be expected for the PN’s apologists to swoop in droves and adulate whatever GonziPN does by mentioning ancient history.

What they conveniently try to forget is the fact that Labour was in government in more recent time (albeit for a short time) in 1996 and Dr Sant ruled in a very fair manner.

It’s mince meat, you duck-egg. If you don’t know the terminology, stick to what you DO know.

    Gej bil-mince pie.

Sorry but I’m fussy about that crap, no matter who it is.

Looking forward ‘for’ instead of ‘to’. Advice instead of advise. Loose the election rather that lose it.

Just yesterday I saw ‘tit-a-tat’ for tete-a-tete (no accents as I’m using my phone, sorry) for Clapton’s sake! I could go on. And on, and on, and on, and……

  8. Jake says:

Stefan, I do not believe that the Euro and the Lira are the same or that they have the same implications but if you are following the current crises in Europe you would know that the measures that are being taken are at best a short term solution and that most probably more and more funds will be required.

To date they have already allocated about 150 Billion Euros to Greece and if you consider Malta’s size 700 Million Euros is a very significant amount and there is no harm in making sure that these are being used properly.

Who said that I’m comparing the Euro with the Lira what makes you think that everyone is so stupid? Most probably you are the ignorant here because you don’t know what you are talking about and you do not want to know.
