My, they've really changed their tune, haven't they

So have I, but the difference is that I finally understood that he really was lying. What’s Labour’s excuse? That they discovered Jeffrey was telling the truth?

Or that they both want to undo Lawrence Gonzi?

“It is shameful that, right up to this day, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and the PN have not yet taken steps against Pullicino Orlando after he was caught lying more than once on his personal involvement in the Mistra scandal. Labour insists Pullicino Orlando is not fit to represent the people in parliament.”

– press statement by the Malta Labour Party, 20 May 2008, as quoted in Saviour Balzan’s newspaper the following day

Another Labour U-turn, perhaps? With the benefit of hindsight?

  2. Antoine Vella says:

A PL which is reviving the cult of Lorry Sant will find it easy to adjust to a politician who has been accused (by Labour itself) of land speculation.

  3. Alternative Guy says:

It’s Toni Abela, the guy who can work on two alternatives at the same time: waiting to become Deputy Leader of the Party-in-Government while keeping his Alternattiva friends happy, hoping they’ll be given a place in paradise…

IMISSEK TISTHI TONI, IGGIB LILL-ALTERNATTIVISTI AKTAR MIL-LABURISTI.

    ISTHI, U WARRAB!

Don’t think so Daphne. What you fail to notice, or perhaps you completely underestimate the power of your blog, is that Saviour Balzan, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Toni Abela have one common enemy.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

They use each other to advance their goals which I don’t think has anything to do with politics. It’s more personal. Confronting Daphne is no joke …. I wouldn’t dare.

Maaa, x’biza… confronting Daphne… no joke that. Do you need a towel, Len?

      • TROY says:

Sharon might need that towel more than Len.

      • La Redoute says:

No, Troy. Kev’s the one who needs the towel. Didn’t he say he hides out in the loo when he visits this blog?

      • kev says:

Not for me, La Redoute. You’d best refer to Purdie if you’re into toilet jokes.

      • Harry Purdie says:

La Redoute, Kevvy makes me ‘flush’ with embarrassment. His retorts are so underwhelming.

      • No joke that. I wouldn’t dare if I’m in politics or in media. I believe that she can make you or break you. Seems you made a lot of friends here, Kev. La Redoute never misses any of your comments.

      • kev says:

Yes, especially when she makes you while trying to break you… I hear JPO’s popularity rises in proportion to her whinging. And many are voting PL in reaction to her petty sniping. No politics, you see, just scorn. That wins no sympathy.

    • Harry Purdie says:

Kevvy’s got lots of dish towels.

Labour have realized that not only is the friend of my enemy also my enemy, but that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I watched parts of Inkontri, yesterday. I am no economist but it seems that Karmenu Vella is one, rather than an architect. The PL still thinks in terms of Malta being in a vacuum. Don’t they realise that what happens to others is bound to affect us whether we like it or not?

Just hand them over the administration of this island come 2013 and we will be thanking our lucky stars for the Arriva problems we have now. Maybe then the PL will ask John Dalli for advice. Right now he must be enjoying the drama from Brussels while letting his frontmen do the work here.

  7. Farrugia says:

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando’s argument is that he was set up in the matter involving the Mistra land.

If that is the case then the PL and the media were misled in their judgement of Dr Pullicino Orlando’s character and actions. The real culprits are those who orchestrated the entire Mistra saga to defame Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando.

Does anyone have know who these culprits may be?

[Daphne – How was he set up? It was his land and the contract is in black and white. Jeffrey’s beef since is not over the content, but over who leaked it, and he has blamed several people.]

    • Jozef says:

He was foolish enough to think that those who invite him to their parties do it to include him in their inner circles.

When he states he was set up, he gives their game away. What has to be remembered is the other saga right next door to his project.

And does anyone remember his rise to fame? Green politician of the year, defender of megaliths of the faith? No one in the vicinity took exception to his efforts then.

I’m not at all surprised Saviour has taken Jeffrey to heart lately. Better to keep him quiet.

  8. Dee says:

The attitude of the PL and Salvu Balzan’s re JPO’s Mistragate is quite schizoid.

If they sanctify JPO in order to put the government’s nose out of joint they risk making an ass out of Alfred Sant’s Mistragate allegations in the pre-electoral period.

If they let him simmer away in the stew he got himself into, they end up with egg on their faces and lose the goose that lays the golden anti-PN propaganda eggs for them.
