Now Jeffrey's brought in the Big Guns: Jasmond Mugliett

Published: October 18, 2011 at 4:17pm

Mrs Jasmond Mugliett admires GBH man Sandro Chetcuti of the Labour Business Forum as he throws some groovy shapes at Magistrate Consuelo Herrera's birthday party

Here’s Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando – shouldn’t he be scouring off dental plaque or something? – posting more stuff on his Fejsbuk for the delectation of his qabda criecer.

A photo of Big Heavy Gun Jasmond Mugliett, with a quote from the man himself:

Il-Perit Jesmond Mugliet M.P. (P.N.)

‘qatt ma naf li suppost kumment politiku waqa daqstant baxx.’ (fir-rigward ta’ dak li qalet Daphne Caruana Galizia fuq it-tfal tal-Kap ta’ l-Oppozizzjoni.)

Jahasra, grown men behaving like boys bitching the girl who won’t talk to them, in the school playground. What retardation.

As for Jasmond, he would say that, wouldn’t he?

I was the one who told The World that he had had the cheap and tacky gall to compete with 20-year-old students for government scholarship funds.

You should have seen him queuing, in a hall full of students and their parents, to pick up his scholarship award from THE PRIME MINISTER, and he wasn’t too embarrassed to do it.

You have no idea what fun I had, looking him up and down as he was forced to walk down the aisle towards me. A total prat. And he still hasn’t told us what he did with the money. Or why he couldn’t have paid for his own studies – what studies? – instead of leaving less for people his children’s age.

Bla zejt f’wicchom.

Is GBH what I think it is as used in UK police circles?

[Daphne – Yes. Please do keep up. http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20100312/local/chetchuti-accused-of-attempted-murder-of-vince-farrugia.297893 ]

Sometimes it’s difficult to keep up, as you put it, with three or more blogs in one day plus music videos from the golden years ( no, not the PL’s !) but I do my best to keep up. I have had more than my fill of US/UK crime fiction, movies and TV series not to know what GBH is. Will promise to do better next time.

What does Sandro Chetcuti have to do with this particular episode?

  4. La Redoute says:

Did he really compete for scholarship funds or was it awarded to him as some sort of hush money?

  5. Pecksniff says:

Mrs Jesmond Mugliett does not seem all that impressed.

A porridge of misfits unable to grasp that they should not be mixing socially together due to what they are .

Il-perit Jesmond Mugliett will only be known for his famous monument at Luqa. He wasn’t ashamed of that. How do you expect him to be ashamed picking up his scholarship from the PM?

And she hadn’t even seen his big red Ferrari yet.

Pity that such people were/are in a responsible position

Daphne – did you or did you not attack Joseph Muscat’s kids? While I cannot stand the guy or most of the PL, you of all people should know what it means to attack children. And if you want to stir controversy try not to do it to the detriment of their children. Stop your personal vendetta. While I, for the most part admire your writing, I can only despair that a mother should be so bitchy.

[Daphne – Sigh. How does a person attack toddlers, Rachel? Go on, tell me. As for personal vendettas, pop along to Mad Jeff’s Facebook Wall or watch Super One, which gives me more coverage than it does most cabinet ministers. Now pop along, because you’re trying my patience. You don’t for the most part admire my writing. This is an archetypal elve comment.]

“They finally manage to produce a couple of SPROGS after years of trying” ; “those APPALLINGLY named twins in their San Anton School uniforms” ; “the spectacular hamallagni of Joseph and Michelle carrying their LARGE children”

      Sprog Urban Dictionary definition :
      1. once disparaging term for a child, now often used affectionately. (Chiefly British)
      2. derogative term for an unpleasant child.
      3. illigitimate offspring

To be honest I don’t know what the fuss is about.

[Daphne – They don’t speak English, Frans, except as a really foreign language.]

      • Dee says:

JPO referred to his own offspring as BRATS on Facebook, but he objects to the use of the word ‘sprogs’.

    • Antoine Vella says:

Rachel, perhaps you should explain that you’re a PL activist and a prospective candidate for the Mosta Local Council elections.

So much for admiring Daphne’s writing.

[Daphne – Bit of an idiot, then, isn’t she, insulting one of her own constituents. She’s taking lessons from Jeffrey perhaps.]

      • Pecksniff says:

Is Rachel a mole a la “Tinker, Tailor…” or an elf ?

      • No problem says:

        @Antoine Vella

How can you say that Rachel is the one you mentioned? There are many women named Rachel (if that’s her real name) on this island.

      • Antoine Vella says:

Labour Elves are well aware of the considerable following enjoyed by this blog and occasionally make a concerted effort to ride on its popularity by putting their own message across.

Depending on how gross they are this message could be anything from obscene threats to sly protestations of (false) admiration with a sting in their tail.

Looking at this comment by “Rachel” I was struck by the lack of spelling and grammar mistakes, so this isn’t your usual semi-literate foot-soldier. Could it be a lawyer perhaps (“did you or did you not attack . . .”)?

Looking at other Labour supporters posting on this blog in recent days it’s easy to find indications of who might be linked to whom (thank you, Facebook) so, yes, I could be mistaken but my guess is that this Rachel is a certain prospective Labour candidate from Mosta.

Oh, and of course, my past connection with BirdLife means that from time to time I get a birdie tell me . . .

  12. Likki says:

During the “back to the 80s” show on Super One yesterday, it was so glaringly obvious that JPO has already crossed over to Labour that one keeps wondering how the PN cannot find a way to stop this farce from repeating itself every hour on Facebook and every day on Super One or Malta Today.

True, there is the 1-seat majority issue but Jeffrey is no elderly Mintoff and he knows that if he topples the government it will be the end of his political career.

And I doubt if he wants that – to the contrary he is in love with the camera, microphone or anything which puts him in the limelight. I do not think he is ready to sacrifice his political career yet.

But his continuous actions and associations with anything that is anti-PN and anti-government are exposing the lack of leadership within the same PN – in not being able to control the guy and subject an own elected MP and Chairman of a National Body to party discipline.

Eddie was so damn clear on this one last week on Bondi+.

Is it possible that within the PN and higher structures of government there is no one able to put the house in order?

Do we have to wait another 18 months and a crushing defeat at the polls until someone realises that this is simply intolerable?

How can we expect high standards from village tesserati turned local councillors but then tolerate all this mockery from a nationally elected MP?

Comparisons are odious but this situation would not have been allowed to escalate to this point when the PN administration was led by people who were able to take the right decisions at the right time.

The party leadership has to take decisive actions to stop this Jeffrey circus and have the media and public opinion focus not on what JPO says or does but on the government’s actions and success in developing this economy and nation of ours.

  13. P Shaw says:

The worst harm done to these kids was done by their own parents, when they named them Etoille and Soleil. I am convince that Muscats have no self-awareness at all, and consequently are not aware how these twins will be ridiculed once they grow up. What will PM Muscat do – pass a law so that the twins’ peers are not made fun of behind their back?

    • cat says:

All the Muscats could see in those names is the originality and that in Malta there is no one else called like that.

  14. Antoine Vella says:

“. . . Muscat, that very terrible man who has named his children Etoile and Soleil.” Saviour Balzan

    http://archive.maltatoday.com.mt/2009/06/02/opinion.html

Admittedly, Balzan was being sarcastic but, of all things he could have said, he DID use Muscat’s children to make his point.
