Saviour, Toni and Jeffrey – the real cabal

Malta Today's lawyer: the deputy leader of the Labour Party

Oh, and I forgot to tell you the biggest ‘Alice in Wonderland’ aspect of this morning’s circus in court.

So first we had L-Onor Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando vs. L-Onor Dr Alfred Sant, in which L-Onor Pullicino Orlando is suing L-Onor Sant for what he said about him and Mistra in the 2008 election campaign.

Then immediately after we had Richard Cachia Caruana vs. Saviour Balzan, with Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando a witness for Saviour Balzan and collaborating with the deputy leader of the Labour Party in his capacity as Balzan’s lawyer.

And the topic under discussion is Mistra.

Unbelievable.

One minute I’m listening to the former leader of the Labour Party saying that Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando is corrupt. Then the next minute I’m listening to the deputy leader of the Labour Party suggesting that I’m a liar and that the court should believe Jeffrey instead.

Mal-Labour jaqbillek. Il-vera kaz.

But more unbelievable still was the sight and sound of Toni Abela, impaled on the horns of his dilemma, at once challenging me for being so credulous as to believe his witness over Mistra, while insisting that the court believes that witness on the matter of what I didn’t say to him.

Decide, Toni: is your witness a liar or isn’t he? You think he is a liar on the subject of Mistra, but then you ask us to believe him all the same.

Toni Abela, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Saviour Balzan: a real prize trio. And the true cabal in this revolting story. I repeat: the only reason Jeffrey doesn’t cross the floor to his true home in the Labour Party is because his wife is sitting there with fangs bared – so to speak.

But that’s where he belongs.

And isn’t it rich? The entire gist of Saviour Balzan’s defence is that I am in league with the Nationalist Party. This when he’s standing there with the deputy leader of the Labour Party as his lawyer and chum.

Fangs bared? Make that holding one hard toothbrush.

Only last week she was on radio telling us how important it is to brush our tongue vigorously when cleaning our teeth.

It’s where bacteria tend to lie.

Now Jeffrey, open it…. and then you can play with Saviour.

[Daphne – Bacteria lie too? So using Saviour’s and Jeffrey’s logic: bacteria lie; Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando lies; therefore, Jeffrey is a bacterium. That’s just how they think.]

In this case, “mal-Labour ghamel kif jaqbillek.”
