Just heard Godfrey Grima comment on TVM news. His comment was about Gonzi but definitely applicable to future cases. He said that with a new PM, one would need a year maybe more to get a grip. Now fast forward and think of Joseph taking up the reins. Can we afford a year of fumbling in this economic climate?
Godfrey Grima said something about Lawrence Gonzi asking for the backing of the entire party, and Grima commented that this could complicate things if Gonzi obtains, say only 99% of the vote.
Is Grima spinning the words of Gonzi, so that after the result, if the PM obtains the confidence of say 90% of the party, the PL can say, look, Gonzi did not obtain the full backing of the party?
Joseph Muscat got 66% of the votes cast by the delegates. So, applying your threshold, what is Muscat’s level of legitimacy or lack thereof?

PL, let’s wait and see. Silverbug was just showing how the “running in” period implied by Godfrey Grima applies to any new PM, because as Joseph Muscat put it in Parliament last week, “What goes for the guuuus, goes for the gennnderrrrr.”
However, if Joseph Muscat becomes PM, Silverbug’s question would be, really:

Joseph you will win an election when you and your party will make an official apology for all the shameful things your party did to us in the 80’s and when you apologise for the wrong advice you gave us on Europe
Why? Didn’t they regale us with beautiful golden years in the 80s? They have no sense of guilt. They only have crocodile tears. They are so superficial and their veneer is so thin you can see right through it.
For me it is too late. I will not accept any apology from those coyotes but as a Christian, I will forgive them.
