Laburisti Ukburin: he’s from Georgia
The Labour beetles (elves are now mere party supporters, while beetles are the organised hardcore spearheaded by Forum Zghazagh Laburisti and fellow Running (Under)Dogs) are all over Facebook, setting up fake profiles with names like Labour Ghaxaq and so on.
I say ‘fake profiles’ because Facebook does not permit profiles of anything other than a real person with a real personal name. Aaron Farrugia can have a profile. Fondazzjoni Ideat may not. Fondazzjoni Ideat must have a page/group.
Whenever you come across a ‘personal’ profile that’s been set up by Labour beetles as a trolling, hdura or propaganda exercise, in anything other than a personal name, please report it using the reporting facility on the profile itself. Click the section ‘Not a real person’.
Several such hdura profiles have been brought down already through the simple expedient of multiple reports, but it requires collective effort.
Let’s beat these jerks at their own game.
There’s nothing underhand or sneaky about this, don’t worry (we non-Labour supporters don’t like doing that kind of thing, I know). They’re breaking Facebook’s rules by pretending to be a real person, so they get reported to Facebook for doing it.
But be sure to have a bit of a laugh before you click ‘report’. Some of the contortions into which they twist themselves to make their fake names seem like personal names, while still making sure their people know who they are, are risible.

If Debono is presenting a private member bill on party financing does it mean he will abstain next Thursday and wait for it to be presented in parliament?

Did you stop to think twice before writing this piece? You know that your blog is read both by PN- and PL-leaning readers, and you also know that the same trick you described above is also used by PN supporters.
What’s good for the goose becomes good for the gander. A quick PN search on the FB search field returned tens of PN locality party clubs and related ‘persons’ who are no real persons at all.
[Daphne – Then they should be reported too. The Facebook situation has become ridiculous in Malta. If you’re going to use it, use it properly. Must we turn everything into an illegal camp site with barbecues, even Facebook? Unfortunately, the Labour sites are being used for slander.]

Daphne, this is a call for me to make one of the obvious questions: Could you give us the link to your facebook profile? Is, it true, you’re too shy you can’t even make a personal profile but hide behind a fake one? Obviously, taking into consideration that 85% of your articles are based on some facebook comment, picture and stuff.

Fair enough! Then at least these people whom you criticise have the guts, yes guts (the ideal word in this context) to go public on facebook and accept all kinds of opinions without the option of accepting/not accepting comments which they like or not. At least they are open to public scrutiny! Yes that’s a call dot dot dot another one actually.

[Daphne – Yes, that is exactly what I mean when I say that Facebook has been perverted and abused in typical fashion by Maltese people who are strangers to literacy and the concept of social media. In the normal course of things, people needn’t fear having abusive comments or slanderous ones about third parties posted on their walls. But Maltese people have a very low standard of education in these matters and the results are there for all to see. Where in the world would a 48-year-old politician show us his supper spaghetti, or former slum-dwellers who can barely write post insults about private parts on other people’s walls?]
In the case of Engerer you saw the word Pufta, but I didn’t. I noticed that you know facebook so well, for example knowing about the delete option. Oh wait a minute, I am sorry, please spare my ignorance, probably you use your husband, or your little child’s facebook, just to hide behind the screen.
[Daphne – Better than that, one of my sons (the one the Labour Party targetted in the 2008 election) worked for Facebook in London for some time. I don’t have a little child. My sons are all in their 20s. And my husband is a grown man. He would never use Facebook, and if he took to it, my opinion of him would go through the floor.]
Correction- not the one the Labour party targeted, but the one who targeted the Labour party, the one who swore to the cameraperson, just because of his presence. that’s how I refer to him at least.

I believe fb is a SOCIAL network where anyone, and even politicans, can use their social techniques to form part of the community, so why not show what he prefers to eat.

As you said, anyone can be on Facebook and say whatever they like (within the law), but equally, everyone else is free to consider them ridiculous. Social techniques, as you describe them, are required for social situations, not internet situations. Also, Facebook is not a community. It is a networking system.]

I agree with previous post by Facebooker that there has to be a collective effort to get rid of fake profiles and report them as not being a real person.
For example, are profiles like Partit Laburita Marsaskala and many other similar profiles permitted?
