Cyrus on parade in Sliema

Published: March 10, 2012 at 2:30pm

The nerve of that Cyrus Engerer. He was at the Sliema polling-booth this morning, wearing a Labour Party crest and touting for Labour, face to face with electors who gave him their number 1 and number 2 votes for the Nationalist Party in the last round of council elections.

When people are that shameless, you just have to wonder if they are quite all right.

Oh, and he was also wearing the trademark Labour chav uniform of a fake Burberry scarf. How low can he sink.

That falls within the definition of a pufta ordnat, and it applies whether a person is gay or not.

  2. Jozef says:

I watched him on Realta’ – fascinating how the transformation has effected his tone of voice, dress sense and weight: from laid-back sharp individual to contrived cliche’.

No matter how hard he tries, he knows his career won’t follow the objective reasons he previously set himself.

  3. Not Tonight says:

Where there is wisdom and good sense, let me sow insanity.

  4. GiovDeMartino says:

I have nothing against genuine Labour supporters. Imma nies bhal dan igiddmuhuli l-istonku. I can’t explain myself in English.

  5. Andre says:

Jaqq. I just got a text from Dr Emmanuel Mallia reminding me to go and vote for all Labour candidates.

How did he get my number?

    • The chemist says:

He’s going round with Joe Galea L-Olandiz, trying to rally support for his new friends. Nice canvasser you’ve got there, Manwel.

    • Roms says:

Same here – I’m wondering where he got my number.

    • No Problem says:

My daughter received numerous SMSs from Labour local candidates on her mobile.
She too is wondering how they got her number. Is this legal?

  6. Sliema ghalina says:

And he has the message “Ohrog ivvota lill-kandidati kollha tal-Partit Laburista” on his Facebook page.

  7. edgar says:

I was trying to imagine myself wearing a Labour Party crest after all these years standing on that part of Blanche Street during all the elections for a number of years, wearing a PN badge. Trid ikollhok vera wicc ta’ qahba.

  8. Canon says:

Dr Emanuel Mallia is sending mobile phone text messages urging us to vote for a change and vote Labour. I tried to send him a reply but then I realized that his phone number was not available.

  9. Stanley J A Clews says:

I challenged him to call on me just like he did before the last Sliema Council election just like he did then but he did not turn up. Pity he was not around when I went to vote. Even at 89 I would have been prepared to call him a traitor.

  10. Giovanni says:

Even two of my family members received one and we have no elections in our locality.

  11. Manuel says:

Spineless and without any principles = Cyrus.

  12. Qahbu says:

As I walked past him I wondered if his phone recorder was on in case voters told him what they thought of him….

    • Not Tonight says:

I wouldn’t put it past him. It’s sad to see he’s turning into a nasty piece of work. And he could have done so well for himself and for the gay community in general. But perhaps, it was always just a front that he managed to fool us with.

  13. Paul Bonnici says:

He was probably like a forsaken child wondering aimlessly around the polling station.

    Sad scene to see.

  14. paddy says:

I am not from Sliema but Cyrus saga has damaged his credibility. I believe everyone has the right to change ideas and sides but one day you parade the Nationalist flag and the day after wow you are a Labour candidate?

  15. Hibernating from Malta says:

I’m living in the UK at the moment and can guarantee that not even chavs wear Burberry checks any longer. They’re more into Bench, Superdry and classic Adidas shiny trackies now.

  16. P Shaw says:

Cyrus will be dumped together with JPO and John Bundy after the next election. John Bundy might get a programme on TVM as a reward, while Carmen would move on to her next prey.

  17. Angus Black says:

Cyrus has become a liability even to the gay community. His behaviour erases any empathy with the group.

  18. Sarah says:

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw him yesterday. Oh and I thought that was a Burberry scarf.
