Jaqq. Dejjem l-istess lehen PN fuq background music stupida.
I watched his press conference yesterday morning, and there he was, in a shirt twice his size looking quite miserable and sorry for himself.
He expects to put up Photoshopped images of Lawrence Gonzi all over the place, only to cry foul as soon as he’s given the same treatment by the PN. The big baby.
Prime ministerial material he isn’t.
And what is this that every time he is faced with a crisis, he leaves the country?
Internationally, when there is a wage freeze, employees are still entitled to Cost of Living increases.
Therefore, when Joseph Muscat announced that he will not increase the minimum wage, and when he said that Cost of Living increases will still be given to employees, he actually meant that if elected, he would impose a Wage Freeze!
The PN Government never made such an announcement. On the other hand, Joseph Muscat led everyone to believe that, if elected, he will introduce the living wage. He then made a u turn and announced that, if elected, he will freeze the minimum wage.
It reminds me of when Joseph Muscat did not want Malta to join the European Union. He later declared that Malta’s place is in the EU.
This is going to be the repeater class of this campaign
Has he initiated legal action about this ‘torni’ issue as yet?
It would be funny seeing him defend his political statements in a court of law.
I can already see the magistrate knitting his eyebrows to determine how the court will decide on something which is as yet to happen (a Labour government freezing the minimum wage) and which at the moment belongs to the realm of politics and not to law.
Or does he plan to take the Prime Minister to a kangaroo court in front one of a Parliamentary committee, where Luciano Busuttil can organise a barbecue with sausages and burgers, and then proceed with a vote of no confidence in the House?
How sad to see both parties competing as to who will dish out more social services, who will raise the minimum wage and who will decrease the utility bills! A competition in mediocrity.
This week I started again believing in Tonio Fenech (after his famous Madonna gaffe) when he was quoted as saying that utility bills cannot go down without jeopardizing the financial stability of the country.
Today I read as a front page headline in The Times that the civil service is going to go up by 12M anally with no guarantees for increases in efficiency.
The PN must have figured that they can beat Labour by being more socialist than them.

For a while I thought he was no longer a Socialist. His Moviment ta progressivi, liberali, moderati etc. etc did not mention the word Socialist.
I hope he does not get any crazy ideas from his French counterpart, that’s right, the one he bumped into near the lift.

The irony of socialism is that when their economic policy (?) goes astray, it is mainly the working class which suffers.
That counts for anyone’s economic policy. When things go belly-up, the fat cats will still come out on top.

The minimum wage is a safeguard to ensure that workers with a decent job get paid a fair wage, that as a “minimum”, permits a decent standard of living. Nothing special, just good enough to live on.
Although both parties know this and in essence agree, they are trying to get political mileage by playing a delicate balancing act between workers and businesses, or by taking part of a speech and creating a propaganda film out of it.
One theory says “keep repeating and eventually someone will believe “.
Point is, both are offending my intelligence. They should be challenging each other on issues of how they will be promoting work by having new ideas and allowing businesses to work.
