Franco Debono: the turkey who plans to vote for Christmas

Published: October 2, 2012 at 12:44am

Now he’s got to find somebody in Hal Ghaxaq to explain this to him, because he takes things literally.

“Mrs Debono Junior qalet li jien dundjan. Issa ha nwaqqa l-gvern. Hekk! Hudu go fikhom.”

Franco, ahna qeghdin niehdu go fina, imma inti ser tiehu izjed go fik la jasal il-waqt. Min jidhaq l-ahhar jidhaq l-ahjar.

Apparently he is asking for November elections.

So maybe it’s Thanksgiving, and not Christmas.

  3. nutmeg says:

So much for his attention-seeking pranks. Come early next year Joseph Muscat will have beat him, Lawrence Gonzi will have outlived him politically and the electorate will have forgotten him except remembering him occasionally with a curse.

He probably won’t even make it to a carnival float.

He seems restless and uneasy every time I see him. The poor guy seems to be watching his back all the time.

    Dan il-bniedem ahdar daqs Mintoff.

An election must be held within three months from date of dissolution of parliament.

If the Budget is defeated on the 15th November, an election may be held on the 15th February 2013.

Notwithstanding Franco Debono’s declarations, I do not think that he will vote against the Government on the Budget. With all this confusion I am surprised that Joseph Muscat has not tabled a motion of no confidence in the government. Is it because he might actually be scared of getting in?

Franco ghandu ghira kbira ghal min jirnexxi. Biex anki mal-Ministru Cassar qabad?

  9. Jack says:

Clearly Franco is delusional and out of touch with reality.

The fact that he still uses the word “may” re: losing his seat is however indicative that he has not resigned himself to the fact that he will not contest the next election on the PN ticket.

Despite saying that he did not want to contest it (anyway) and that Malta needs a new party, clearly the man still deems the fifth district as his turf – yeah really.

Now, putting this in context. This ploy to shoot down the budget is to me a last-ditch attempt to hold the Prime Minister at ransom – and be back on the PN ticket. If the Prime Minister were to succumb to this petty blackmail – he can rest assured that I will never vote for the PN ever again.

Jiena nahseb li dan il-genn kollu huwa biex issir elezzjoni qabel l-ewwel tas-sena il-gdida hija habba il-votanti godda li jistaw jizdidu li dawn dejjem ikelhom maggoranza tal-PN.

    • Jaqaw ma qrajtx l-ahhar rizultat tas-survey li ghamlet il-Malta Today, li l-maggoranza taz-zaghzagh , bejn 18 u 34 sena, jafdaw aktar lil Joseph Muscat minn Lawrence Gonzi ?

  11. SPB says:

The way I see it, Franco’s prime target is Austin Gatt. He stated – ta’ avukat li hu – that “with Austin Gatt in cabinet” he will vote against the budget.

He was banking on the Car Parks motion to be discussed and turned into a no-confidence-in-AG motion. This way he would have AG out of the way and he would not lose face by NOT voting against the budget (because AG will not, then, be in Cabinet).

When the PN opted to drop the car parks proposal, that really threw him. His opportunity to eliminate Austin Gatt before the budget was gone, so now he would have to vote against the budget because that is what he said he would do if Austin stayed.

I almost feel sorry for the prick. He keeps trying, but the Evil Clique is always one step ahead if him.

  12. canon says:

Franco Debono can never be trusted again. He did it once and can do it again. It will be a folly if the Nationalist Party allow Franco to contest the next election with a PN ticket.

  13. Murdock2 says:

canon are you living abroad? Dont you know that Franco has been refused his candidature with the PN ticket for next elections? The Executive of the PN has ruled that Franco Debono will never ever be a condidate with the PN in any elections.

  14. Monte bello says:

Why doesn’t Franco just call it a day and go out as an independent candidate. He is confident that he has a big following and I’m sure both if them will vote for him.
