What sort of person degrades parliament and abuses the trust of his electors by using his vote for personal revenge?

Portrait of what the British would call a c**t.

Franco is going to vote against the Budget out of personal animosity and not because he doesn’t agree with the Budget, the contents of which he hasn’t yet seen. Here’s this very telling remark from his very own blog.

So tell us, Franco. Will you vote against the budget because you disagree with the contents, or because you see this as a way of getting back at Lawrence Gonzi, Austin Gatt et al? I’m sure that a serious and intelligent politician will only declare their intention to oppose a motion after having assessed what is being presented. So please tell us what is really motivating your decision.

After this declaration, can the Speaker of the House take action against him?

  2. Jozef says:

I think he made a serious tactical blunder this time.

Basically he admitted to the irrationality of his decision; an hour isn’t enough to cool down it seems.

Are the toilets in Peru ready? Or is it fine by the president for an MP to create havoc around Christmas, two months away from the actual electoral due date?

Unless Joseph thinks business should be allowed to work only if he’s in office.

    • A.Attard says:

The electoral due date is 10th August 2013

    • Indri says:

      @ A.Attard

The due date is 5 years 3 months after parliament opened in 2008. Parliament has to be dissolved 5 years after it opened at the latest. So the election is due by end June 2013.

      • A.Attard says:

        You are not correct.

The 5 years start counting from the opening of parliament.

Il-hdax il-legilatura opened officially the 10th May 2008, so the 5 years end on 10th may 2013. so 10th may 2013 is the latest day that parliament can be dissolved. After that elections can be held after a maximum of 3 months hence 10th august 2013 is the latest date that elections can be held.

Can I spell it out more?

His answers read like excerpts from the Bodhisattva Prayer. I wonder why.

  4. jack says:

Well… the day of reckoning is upon us. And so let it be.

I’d rather go to the polls NOW than endure another day being held hostage by by severely disturbed individuals.

    • etil says:

No, let these individuals themselves, for lack of a word that can be printed, bring down the government. I do not think they have the guts to do so because despite their continuous bla bla they are simply cowards.

  5. etil says:

Nobody disputed the fact that Franco Debono is a human being but is that an excuse for his behaviour?

Is he finally accepting the fact that he is making big mistakes? Why does he have to compare himself to others? It must be a case of lack of self esteem.

    • el bandido guapo says:

Whenever someone posts a stinging comment the answer to which he certainly can not supply without waving the “mea culpa, mea culpa” banner, he responds with a totally irrelevant reply.

  6. Evarist Saliba says:

Nobody should be surprised at the answer given by Franco Debono. He may pose as a democrat, but his actions have shown early on that he is driven by a destructive EGO of unusual propoportions.

  7. Aunt Hetty says:

Franco Debono could have resigned and walked away with some vestige of dignity and honour and with the possibiiity of re-enetering the political fray in a decade or so.

As it is, he chose to let rage, envy and revenge get in the way of his political and professional careers.

He is a misguided foolish and immature and richly deserves his certain fate – dumped ingloriously and unlamented in the dustbin of history.

  8. Yanika says:

Can someone put a motion of no confidence regarding this twat? Or force a psychiatric examination on him so as to drive him out of Parliament?

    • Rita Camilleri says:

@ Yanika – my thoughts exactly – he has been dishing out vote of no confidence to every Tom, Dick & Harry in Parliament, can this be done to him?

      Is it permissible?

  9. Just me says:

Let’s look at the bright side of things. By voting against the budget, Franco will be bringing his own end more quickly. Good riddance.

  10. George Grech says:

I dare him to contest the next election as an independent candidate to prove to us (or rather himself) how popular he is.

  11. Francis Saliba says:

Franco Debono has made his calculations. He knows that his histrionic days in parliament are numbered. It does not matter very much if the elctorate gives him the order of the boot now or in a few months time.

    • Min Jaf says:

Oh, yes. I think it does matter to Franco.

Much as he would like to fire his single shot and bring down the government, he is also very much aware that, when this is done, he will immediately wipe himself off the stage and into oblivion – and that is something that he cannot bear.

And, to complicate things further, as Franco himself informed us, Austin Gatt has a pretty wife, while Franco has to make do with his assortment of birds and cockerels.

Perhaps someone might consider installing a horizontal stay-arm to the palace flagpole and thereby possibly bringing matters to a head without any damage to the well-being of the nation.

  12. JPS says:

I think calling Franco a C**T is an injustice to the word and relative female body part.

[Daphne – JPS, you know my views on the disparagement of women. It’s just the classic British insult to describe somebody like this. A pr**k is just a jerk, but a c**t is a man who’s nasty for the pleasure of it.]

He is simply and graciously a WASTE OF FUCKIN TIME aka WOFT.

We just need to buy him another large pony polo top with a large

    WOFT

    printed on the back.

  13. Mark Vassallo says:

Maybe we should offer Franco a state funeral.

You never know, he might take us up on the offer.

After all, it’s a small price to pay for a some stability in this country.

  14. Rumplestiltskin says:

A wise man once said that to be human should be considered a privilege not an excuse.

  15. curious says:

I think there is some sense in Franco’s nonsense.

  16. Alf says:

“i am a human being like you and austin gatt” says Franco Debono.

Franco might be “homo” but definitely NOT “sapiens”, though he tries to persuade that he is.
