FATHER ADMITS RAPING HIS THREE DAUGHTERS, JAILED FOR 10 YEARS
A 44-year-old man from Cospicua this morning admitted in court to raping his three daughters. He started raping two of them when they were 12 and the other when she was 11.
The man cannot be named by court order to protect the identity of the girls.
The court was told that the first case started when the man invited his daughter, 12, to go with him to see some Playstation and other equipment. But instead he took her to a bar where he got her drunk and then violently raped her in a room.
He subsequently raped her another three times and he only stopped when the girl thought she was pregnant.
He, however, then started the same tactic for his second daughter. On one occasion he also raped her in his car. The cases continued for three years with the girl sometimes being raped twice a month.
The man then turned his attentions to his younger daughter. The first time he raped her was in a room in Ghajn Dwieli and he subsequently raped her several times, even while she was recovering from stomach surgery.
The man used to threaten his daughters and even make them swear not to reveal anything.
It was only when the two younger daughters spoke to each other that they realised that they had shared the same experience, and then they found that their older sister had suffered the ordeals too.
Following a plea bargaining agreement, the man was jailed for 10 years and fined €3,100.

Not old enough. And I hope that he name has been placed on the sex offenders register. About time the Courts start considering the victims. I am sick and tired of those bleeding souls that believe that prison is there to rehabilitate and that everyone deserves a second chance. Prison is there to deter and to punish.

Can I also ask what sort of fine 3,100 is? Barely more than a fine for getting caught littering the streets. Shame on the judiciary.

In my view, the vilest part is the prosecution accepting a plea bargain. Prosecution should have gone for the jugular.
Agreed, this individual’s dangerous.
It’s possible that the prosecution accepted to bargain to spare the girls from going through the traumatic experience of having to testify and be cross-examined in court.
We should consider all possibilities before making hyperbolic statements.
In sexual offences concerning minors, evidence is given behind closed doors and via videolink. Not that this necessarily makes the experience of giving evidence any less traumatic.
However weighing this possibility with a ten year sentence – that’s hardly a bad deal for the perpetrator. May I remind you that a conviction of rape carries a prison term of up to nine years.
Here you’re looking at three separate crimes. Let’s assume the perv gets remission for good behaviour – he’ll be out in seven.

Poor girls. My heart goes out to them. I remember my father relating a story when he was once in a courtroom where a man was being charged with raping his 5 daughters, yes 5.
The magistrate asked the man ‘Aren’t you in the least bit ashamed of what you have done?’ to which the exact reply from the bastard was ‘Allura nitmaghhom ta’ xejn?’ (then should i get nothing in return for feeding them?)

Research has shown that paedophiles cannot be reformed. They do not even respond well to any kind of treatment except medication that inhibits any kind of sexual urges.

Exactly where was their mother? You might not believe this but once a mother who had her daughters abused told me better like this then another woman. Sometimes both deserve jail one for abusing, andthe other for closing her eyes.

It appears in cases like this all over the world that the mother must have some idea what is going on. Some claim they are emotionally and physically abused so could not speak out. Its my opinion that many turn a blind eye to the abuse. The girls behaviour must of changed when the abuse started.
If you have been following the Jerry Sandusky case in the US. Jerry was a football star and systematically abused boys in college for years. His fame protected him, even when he was witnessed raping a child in the showers.

My heart goes out to the girls. It must be difficult as this being Malta the locals are going to know who the girls are. I wish them the best and hope they can move forward the best they can.

That is most horrendous. The mother herself should be charged with concealing a crime, at the very least. How she could live with herself for allowing her husband to rape her daughter defies my imagination.
That’s it. I hope that for her sake and her daughters, she’s dead. It’s impossible for a mother not to know when her child is being abused by her husband/partner; especially when three daughters are involved.
Sometimes, I feel more disgusted by the mother than the father. The mother should be one’s best protector, but when all you get is such a mother, there really is no hope for the poor child.

Well, according to court news, in one instance, she was right there in the car when one of her daughters was being raped by the father.
Now my question is this, if a mother gets a prison sentence for not forcing her 17 year old son to visit his father, what should this mother get for not protecting her daughters from being systematically raped by her own husband and father of her children?

In another case a mother asked her daughter whose wedding was to be celebrated soon, not to divulge the fact that her future husband had abused of her younger sister, since the wedding would have to be called off – and that would mean loosing face with the neighbours.
As for the judgement, it’s risible. Ten years for each time he abused his daughters plus another ten years for every daughter he abused would have been more just.

Maybe the mother is some sort of psychiatric case herself and thanks to medication, is only remotely aware of what goes on around her.

Not all psychiatric cases are the same. Some people are still able to care for their children perhaps more than any other normal person out there can.
I had a neighbour who was mental. She’d scream and shout at everyone and everything from dusk to dawn. She lived with her son, but she looked after him, nothwithstanding her own difficulties.
The child went to school, she fed and clothed him and when social welfare officers came round to examine the child, they found he was well taken care of.
All I mean is, even if the person is a psychiatric case, it would not automatically mean that her illness caused her to let her husband do what he did on her three kids. If we say this, we could mean that psychiatric people behave like this, and this is not always the case.
In this case, the mother is most likely to be a psychiatric case, a negligent person, a careless mother, a stupid guardian, someone who needs help of the extreme kind, herself.

It is not in the professional interest of our politicians cum legislators cum lawyers to enact and impose harsh laws as punishment for crimes.
If they did, they would soon run out of clients if criminals were jailed for long periods. Nope, I do not agree with the adage that crime does not pay. It does, and how.

I was away for the last few days and only just started catching up on the news. The sentence given is ridiculous. It’s not the justice the victims deserve. And for people who went through an experience similar to this, it opens up all sorts of old wounds.
Unfortunately, I’m speaking from personal experience, where the sick a**hole involved had 5 prior reports, and he got 3yrs, out in 2.5 years.
How would the judges react if it was their daughters? Would they be happy and feel justice has been done if the perp got 10yrs? I think not! I really do hope there is some kind of appeal to increase the sentence, at least to 10 years per child.
