I was very poor in 1980. I recuperated in 1992.
Dad lost his job in the 80s. I had one pair of shoes called Sanga which were passed on to me by my sister.
School outings were my nightmare whenever they came up cause Mum couldn’t send me, to save on extra costs, so she used to put the money aside to buy me school books instead.
I had one school bag which was expensively bought from the only bag shop in Valletta.
I was brought up deprived, I lived deprived, and I surely know what living in deprivation means.
No, Mr Grima, many families were truly poor under your beloved Labour government. I came from one of them.

In these 25 years of “famine”, I bought a house, got married, paid off my debt, travel once a year, changed my car twice and I am in the process of buying a second property.
All of this while living comfortably and raising two small children. By no means am I rich…just a hard worker enjoying the opportunities that the PN governments gave me.
