Yummy :)
Oh Lord! What a feast!
Where do you find berries which are not canned?
[Daphne – All the good supermarkets carry them in the greengrocery section, especially at this time of year (Arkadia, Scotts in Burmarrad, Tower in Sliema, for example – those are the ones I know – generally stock cranberries, blueberries, raspberries and sometimes blackberries). You’ll find them in punnets or chilled (not frozen) in bags. Most frozen berries just disintegrate into a mush of runny juice when defrosted, so they’re not a good idea if you want the ‘whole berry’ look.]
Unfortunately the berries I have found in major supermarkets always seem tasteless.
That is probably because they are grown for export, out of season, Brian.
We have bought them on several occasions from Scotts in Burmarrad and although there is no comparison between homegrown berries and those we buy in supermarkets, they were quite nice. But then again, when we buy them it’s mostly to use in cooking not to eat on their own.
So Daphne goes shopping for real, cooks and prepares even desserts, and while at it, she edits and produces Taste magazine and writes articles to be published on Thursdays and Sundays. If this were not enough, she keeps a blog which is very active.
She must have a ghost writer like Franco had.
It’s called “multi-tasking”. Women generally tend to be good at it, as are some men..
Multitasking is like when I listen to the radio while washing the dishes, or better still, eating cake, sipping a tot of whiskey while watching and zapping TV and taking small naps in between.
I wish to inform my readers that my berries are firm, whole, and ripe.
Oh dear, I should stop myself really.
Yep!
You’re back!
Heel!
@Daphne
I shall soon have to sue ‘Taste’ (all smiles)…My love handles have turned into rodeo grips.
Everything looks fabulous. Well done. What’s that perched on the rim of the pumpkin soup?
[Daphne – Crisped-up Parma ham. Guess who ate it?]
Cannot wait for my copy, looks amazing.
U jien qed nixxennaq ghal dak l-ikel… waqt li nomghod xumingann.
Lovely.
I believe someone once said of you that he thought you wrote recipes in cook books.
He wasn’t far off the mark evidently!
Btw, looks really nice.
Just got another skype from my sister in Canada, she was checking your blog. Her main comment was: ‘As soon as you get that ‘Taste’, send it!’
Get a room, already :)
I hope, you know the way to next post office, Harry!
Postman picks up for me. (he gets a tip).
Nice to see you back, Andrea.
That trifle looks just mouthwatering. Definitely gonna buy it.
[Daphne – It’s free.]
Perhaps Toyger meant s/he intends buying the trifle itself and not the publication. If it’s for sale that is.
Looks lovely.
“One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating”. Pavarotti.
Luciano is gone, George Lang (he was fascinated by the Maltese language) and the Cafe des Artistes are gone.
The memories of that unforgettable evening together after that memorable Andrea Chenier at the Met will stay forever.
Thank you Luciano and George.
How does one write for Taste?
It looks beautiful. Congratulations. I really need to ask a friend or relative in Malta to send me a copy.
Well done! Keep up the fantastic work.
That grub looks scrumptious. I go for the trifle and the vol au vents,
Simply great! Daph, you are simply amazing. I can’t help it. I am your number 1 admirer – Hope ‘mur hu go fik’ doesn’t get jealous due to me being overzealous!
Tucks’ face on that banner never looked so out of place on your blog.
Here goes all that hard work-out hours down the drain again.
Oh well, I suppose it’s that time of the year.
Thanks Daphne, great presentation and production. My copy is already booked.
Daphne, is there a course or set of classes on food styling available in Malta?
[Daphne – No.]
Taste with class !
Nice pics as well (besides good food) ! Congrats go also to photographers; do they get a taste of the grub for inspiration?
[Daphne – George Scintilla http://www.georgescintilla.com ]
Another classic from today’s Times page 6 …”Inside the mine lay a 230 tonne behemoth ” . Mine for tunnel .

Damn these pictures are dangerous.
Daphne,
You know this is not fair on those living abroad. When is the App going to materialise? I also hope that when it does, one can also download past issues.
Keep up the good work – looks quite professional!
It not only looks professional. It is.
@Lomax – you’re quite right, it is professional!
I just can’t wait till Sunday.
Daphne, if you only knew what you are doing to our waist line.
One thing I don’t regret saying, “What a way to go”.
Keep it up.
