No wonder Muscat can’t face the press in an uncontrolled environment
He’s only happy when he’s sitting there unchallenged and buoyed up by those who will not tear his words to bits.
That allows him to say whatever he pleases, with the tame and ineffectual press reporting that Muscat said this and Muscat said that, and not taking him to task about it.
Who cares what Muscat said? What politicians say is not supposed to be reported like words from the Oracle. It is supposed to be put into the context of the other available facts.
So The Times has allowed Muscat to get away with his comparison of David Gonzi, the prime minister’s son who has no public or party role and who was briefly company secretary to a company that was mistakenly (but I would say deliberately) taken for another one involved in some kind of trouble, to Joe Cordina, financial administrator of the Labour Party and director of the fiduciary company which handled George Farrugia’s money.
Honestly, what an arsehole. I’m sorry for the heavy language, but really.
Aside from the fact that David Gonzi did nothing wrong, was not in a position to do anything wrong, and so the two cases are not comparable, the point here is that Joe Cordina did what he did while serving as a Labour politician and, more crucially, the Labour Party’s financial administrator. David Gonzi is neither a politician nor an official of the Nationalist Party.
I think Muscat gets it. He’s just pretending not to, and using this false reasoning to impress your average idiot.

JPO is looking very puffy and haggard.
He is abusing his body more than ever by the looks of it.
Thing is close on 50% of Maltese voters are sub-average idiots, which is why they all vote Labour.
If using false reasoning to impress not only one average idiot but as many scores of thousands of them as possible, will serve il-ginger’s purpose of reaching up the steps of Castille as Malta’s youngest prime minister then so be it.
As Muscat fondly and continuously likes to reminds us, his ethics simply boil down to ‘the end justifies the means’
Whether such ethics apply not only to his political (and previously journalistic) outlook but also to other spheres in life is left to our better judgement.

Arsehole? Daphne, you’re being too nice. An arsehole serves a useful purpose.
Actually, I’m quite attached to my ars…… no, I won’t go there. Sorry. I’ll get me coat!
Although the Maltese Companies Act gives a very generic definition of who a company director is, such a position carries a great deal of responsibility and duties within the company structure. While it is the shareholders who actually own the company, the directors are responsible for its actual management and running.
The role of a company secretary is a purely administrative role in Maltese companies. One could say that the main duties are to keep the minutes in a board meeting and/or a general meeting and to file application forms with the Registry of Companies.
I guess the difference between the two is effident. So why are Labour even trying to compare the two, when they are so evidently different?
Because they are hoping that the people voting for them are too ignorant of these matters to know the difference.
If I am not mistaken, the responsibilities of directors have been increased to the extent that fraudulent actions are criminally punishable, ie possibilty of serving jail time.
I would think that knowingly receiving money from illegal activites counts as fraud.
No wonder JPO did what he did. He is to be reappointed chairman of MCST again
