Look who’s giving Saviour and Roger advertising revenue: Alfred Mifsud

Published: March 19, 2013 at 1:49am

Allcare

Malta Today is finding it really hard to make the switch from hammering the government to…hammering the government.

I have no sympathy for its sufferings, but I do have a word of advice: Saviour and Roger, if you want your pro-Muscat, anti-Gonzi reports to be taken seriously, it would be best not to decorate them with adverts for Alfred Mifsud’s company, Allcare Insurance.

It’s best not to accept his advertising at all, because it might make us suspicious as to why you didn’t have much to say about the arrest and prosecution of his brother, Tarcisio Mifsud, in the ongoing Enemalta investigations.

It’s bad enough that Malta Today’s legal adviser is the Labour Party’s deputy leader, Toni Abela, who now sits in on cabinet meetings.

Isn’t that amazing? Malta Today has a hotline to cabinet meetings through its lawyer. Saviour and Roger are in!

I don’t suppose you’ll be writing much about Alfred Mifsud either, will you, given that he is a source of advertising revenue for you.

Hypocrites.

Oh, and while you’re about it, instead of giving Raphael Vassallo free rein to embarrass himself and your ‘newspaper’, take him by the hand and try guiding him into a quiet corner with Franco, Jeffrey and the rest of the ‘mentally exhausted’ crowd.

His last piece is a shocking piece of libel. Lawrence Gonzi stole the antique furniture from the Auberge de Castille? Oh, indeed. Lawrence Gonzi stole the computers? Really.

I don’t know who’s more mad – Raphael for writing this or Saviour and Roger for being so fraught with malice and spite and hatred that their better judgement has been twisted and overwhelmed.

Well, Saviour never had any better judgement to begin with. Roger did, once upon a time, but malice can warp a man’s mind to the point where he is unrecognisable.

Does libel extend to Facebook? Certain people, who should know better, have been spreading the same lie on Facebook.

[Daphne – Yes, of course it does. Facebook is publication. Please take screenshots where you find them, and send them to me so that I can upload them. Name and shame – I can’t bear these idiots who think that their Facebook wall is some kind of private bar where they are free to slander people to their heart’s delight. You can’t even do that in a private bar – slander is against the law. All you need is an audience of a couple of people who hear the slander. We’ve turned character assassination and evil gossip about lies into a national pastime. Facebook: the Maltese village-pump.]

Jomus is grinning like the Cheshire Cat at that desk and I am sure he is thinking, “I can’t believe I pulled this off”.

  4. pazzo says:

Thanks for pointing us this web of malice. Come to think of it, Alfred Sant was very correct when he said ‘hbieb tal-hbieb’.

These coming five years we need you more than ever, Daphne, so thanks again and God be with you.

  5. beingpressed says:

Is Allcare and Crystal the same company?

[Daphne – Obviously not. They just have Alfred Mifsud in common.]

    • Ghoxrin Punt says:

Allcare is an insurance company, that used to be an agent for Middlesea. So if you used to use Allcare as an agent, take note that he is now not an agent but an actual insurance company. So any claim will be paid by Allcare and not by Middlesea.

Crystal is an investment advisory firm.

  7. Alex G says:

Thanks for pointing this out, Daphne. It helps me reach some decisions.

  8. Superman says:

Crystal keep advertising on RTK harping away about investing your money with them. Perhaps they have a fund which invests in Cyprus.

  9. Manuel says:

Malta Star and The Times are both gullible newspapers. Worst still, the editors do not even bother to check what their journalists are reporting. No proof reading. Shame on both of them. Pawns in the PL’s Super-Hate-Machine’s hands.

I have cancelled my subscription to The Times. And I never, ever read Malta Today. The stammering idiot gives me the trots. It is The Malta Independent from now on.

    • gejnasew says:

That makes to of us……..so far. And pulling out of Allcare too once due.

    • common sense says:

Me too are you with us ?

    • roundhead says:

Dear Maria, some months ago I wrote on this page that The Times had become another tool in the PL’s hands. I stopped reading The Times for over a year now. May all those who stand by their principles – and not vote for some favour or other – also stop buying this newspaper. It is high time for the PN to start an English newspaper. (Is this so much to ask?)

      • Ghoxrin Punt says:

I agree. i have also stopped buying the Times as it never reports what is said, but rather what it wishes was said.

I agree that the PN should start publishing an English newspaper.

No need for a hard-copy (paper) newspaper; how about the net ?

    1. Learn how to write, hanini.

They do what they do because Lawrence Gonzi is too much of a gentleman. Imagine if it were the other way round.

Raphael’s slander indicates what I suspected. Michelle loves her ‘antiques’.

    As usual, blame Lawrence Gonzi.

I’d insist on an immediate investigation.

Thank God for Daphne and the truth.

  19. Maria Xriha says:

I’ve always thought of “guts” as based on one definition that says “Guts is the will and courage to do something which is difficult or unpleasant, or which might have unpleasant results,” and that anyone hating anyone else’s guts does so out of emotions based on envy, that they themselves may not actually recognise as having a hold within them.

Significant is that this person uses the word “guts” and then follows right on with “coward.” Which is it to be? Make up your mind, ‘Natasha hannini,’ because it seems you are one confused individual with a lot of anger inside that’s perhaps eating you up. Life is short. Sort out your hate and do that by looking inwards towards your own “guts” or lack of them.

Daphne, do your fangs ever run out of poison? I admire your style of writing however I feel you are too one sided.

I just came across this ‘news’ article on timesofmalta.com.

I still cannot understand what sort of news this is.

And the comments below the article are even more hilarious. If one tries to comment against it Labour fans say that we’re jealous.

I don’t even think that this should be an article, let alone letting feelings of jealousy come over me:

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130319/local/muscat-meets-us-vice-president-in-rome.462091

I really am considering not reading The Times anymore.

    • La Redoute says:

I met Christian Amanpour in a public toilet AND I bumped into Queen Rania on the way out.

Maybe I should call The Times.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

That Rania, eh! Makes you rethink all you thought you knew about Palestinian aesthetics. But then she’s got an army of stylists and beauty specialists in attendance, which helps.

Husband’s a decent chap. Seems more at ease among soldiers than world leaders. Sandhurst does that to you.

I met Naomi Campbell on the Tube. All lips, and legs like telegraph poles. I did call The Times but they were too busy running stories on lost cats.

  22. A friend in London says:

The lanzit is coming out, now that there is nothing to celebrate.

  23. Disappointed says:

Raphael literally starts frothing at the mouth when speaking about the PN.

He probably doesn’t know what to do with himself now that the PN is in Opposition.

He has on the very rare occasion written articles which are readable. However, these were the exception to the rule.

Over the past couple of years I have rarely managed to read one through.

He rants and raves and his thought process is totally erratic.

He has long lost any credibility as a columnist let alone a journalist.

His absolute lack of objectivity makes him totally redundant. This definitely is one black sheep.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

And yet he was sent off on a Commonwealth Scholarship.

    • francis says:

beg to differ. i think he is one of the best writers. maybe not agree with content but can he write very well.

[Daphne – He can’t. He’s beyond hopeless. I’m afraid there are some people, and you are probably one of them, who confuse the ability to write proper English with the ability to write well. They are two separate skills. One of the factors on which good writing is judged (in English) is precision. When you use 30 words where 10 would suffice, you are out of the running immediately. Raphael Vassallo’s writing obfuscates. An example of good writing: Mark Anthony Falzon in The Sunday Times.]

  24. christian says:

Raphael Vassallo’s opinion piece in Malta Today alleging nothing less than theft of public property (including furniture) by our ex-PM is not just libellous. It betrays an ingrained prejudice against Lawrence Gonzi and his outgoing government which places everything he has written in the past years in its proper context.

If Raphael was trying to be funny, then he has failed miserably and the only appropriately kind words I can think of are “veru kiesah u antipatiku”.

If he was being serious, then I really feel his employers should immediately call him into their office and beg him to stay away from the hallucinogens.

  25. judy says:

Hope you are fine.just saw a post on f.b. were it was stated that you had some argument in rabat? If it is a lie no problem and if it is not I am pretty sure you held your ground and spoke your mind :-)

  26. Mikiel says:

    Canon, fully agree with you.

These 4 witches of Bundyland wanted meritocracy from PN then in government.

To me it seems that they got what they wanted now. Each minister and PS is employing ‘nies ta’gewwa ghax imeritawha il-posizjoni hi’.

    Meritocracy = t’immeritha. F’hemmhuk Franko.

  27. paleblue my foot! says:

No doubt, Alfred Mifsud anxiously waiting for a call informing him of a Chairmanship or directorship…because he`s always been “in” and he`s on the left side of taghna ilkoll.

    • Ghoxrin Punt says:

      Talk about a conflict then.

What is he expecting – Chairmanship of BOV, so he can sit on the Board of Middlesea, whilst owning Allcare?

I await with bated breathe Joseph’s new Code of Ethics for MPs and other tal-klikka who have conflicting directorships.
